Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Should be. Does he mean the "clamshell" is opening at the seams? They do that sometimes, not a HUGE deal I don't think. IDK, somebody may have a smarter way to do it, but if there are no cracks I'd hit it with super strong epoxy. Body guys might know a better product, but that's what I'd to. But watch out when you handle it. Those things are as fragile as eggshells when they get some age on them.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
The 91-92 spoiler is mostly fiberglass with plastic insert molded into the bottom. The mounting inserts are in the plastic part. If the two are seperating it's not a big deal to epoxy them back together. If there has been damage from being forced apart, by monkeys or freezing water, may have to seperate completely and fix the damage first, then reglue.
So, yes, unlike the earlier 85-90 wrap wings almost anything on the 91-92 wings is fixable.
Post up some pics and I'll tell you exactly how to do it.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Yip. I had to repair a crack in mine, and broke the tips off when I was trying to remove it. So I had to add gluing the tips back on to my repairs. Those stupid hooks they're mounted to are impossible.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
It takes a special glue to fix the 91-2 plastic wing properly.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Yes to repair the plastic part you use that, but to rebond it to the fiberglass part if the two parts are seperating regular epoxy resin would be better but both side must be prepped properly.

Its all plastic. I have several that are completely shattered. You must have had a aftermarket one.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Sure it wasn't chopper gun made fiberglass? I'd swear the one I repaired was original, don't think they had repros then. I remember seeing fiber reinforcement inside of it. I may be misremembering, but I would have thought that plastic wasn't strong enough enough for GM to make a whole wing of it. I guess that would explain the shattering reports though.
I lost my pics, anyone have pics of one in peices?

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
I used two part epoxy, 5000 lb strength on mine, but I'm not totally satisfied. On a couple spots where I used smaller amounts of glue it separated again after being exposed to temp changes over summer/winter, and I had to re-glue. I want a repro, but can't shell out the $400 for it just now.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
The glue I posted about is pricey and uses a special gun but it works wonders on the xenoy plastic

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Interesting. Guess the guy I sold one to got a better deal than I thought if it was a repro.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
Just squeeze out equal parts and make sure its mixed very well. That's kinda what the gun and nozzle does.

Re: 91 formula spoiler fixable?
If you Google, or even just search Ebay with the 3M number for the special applicator gun, usually there's a Made in China, "Harbor Freight" grade, substitute available. The specific 3M tool might be $100 while the knockoff does the same thing for $20. You can also find dealers with old stock of 3M applicators they'll sell for realistic prices just to get them off the shelves.
