Cracks? It's a steel hood, where are the cracks?

where are the cracks exactly? Can't tell with that close up. Generally I would say junk it and get another since the steel TA hoods aren't that hard to get. The hood has a support structure underneath so if it flexed enough the top panel cracked, it's probably pretty far out of shape. if it's a small area mid panel, weld it and level with filler.

Here is the entire hood, you can see all 4 cracks, they aren't super huge. They may just need a filling of some sort.

Hard to tell in pics, but is it buckled in the middle of the crease? If so, lots of fairing work.
Maybe some cracks are just paint bubbling? Can you see the creases/cracks on the back side?

Re: Hood cracks, repair or replace?

I checked the paint, some of paint bubbles/peeling but 4 are cracks. Also no buckeling and not visible through the hood. Bondo or JBweild might fix it. Is there a such thing as an unsafe hood?

Looks like cracks in body filler to me. Hoods are the worst to work on. Long flat surface right at the perfect angle in the drivers seat to see any imperfections. I'd say scrap it and find a good replacement.

If you can't see it on the backside, it's not a crack in the steel. It's just thin sheet metal, the structure underneath is what gives it any strength. I think you just have cracking/ buckling bondo and paint. Grab a grinder or sander and you can find out real quick.
