Looks like a decent buy, and it's not that far from me.
Most of the damage can be replaced, but I'm not too sure about the fairly large dent behind the passenger side door.
Has anyone seen anything similar to this?

Don't bother, not at that price for one and not unless you are doing the body work...

Yes I would be doing all of the repairs myself.

Re: Is this damage repairable??

So he wants $1,500 for car that needs IMO about 3K worth of work if you did ALL the work your self.

Bumper(s), fenders, tail lights, head lights, and that's the easy stuff. For the rear quarter panel you are going to have to cut it out and weld one in.. they have them for sale for around $300-400.

Honestly, that car with that many miles, in decent shape would only bring maybe 2K. depending on other factors.. I wouldn't do it.

Re: Is this damage repairable??

In my book that rear quarter isn't "cosmetic damage", I'd hate to see what he calls major damage !!!

Ive got to agree. I wouldnt pay over $800 for it, if the interior is good. Then I would part it out and scrap the body.

Re: Is this damage repairable??

My 85 actually had similar damage on the drivers side. I welded in a replacement piece cut from a donor. It's a lot of work.
The front damage is a concern as well. That hood is toast. Prob significant damage to the bumper support as well as front frame.
If this was a super clean car with zero rust, it might be worth the trouble, but there are probably better starting points out there.
I would also be concerned about other issues it might have since he thinks that is "cosmetic damage"
If you decide you want that project, I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it.

Re: Is this damage repairable??

its just a question of time and money. If you have both, then do it... but its not worth 1500... more like 500.

I have taken dents out like that with a stud welder and it comes out great.

remember work your way around the outside of the dent and save the middle for last.
