Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

Found this hood on the internet and thought this would be bad ***! What are some thoughts on this hood verses what I've got now.

Here's my car with 4" cowl. Not sure if I want to go with this or not. It's still a work in progress (10 yrs lol) I'd be painting it to match the body also.

Re: Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

I've personally never been fond of the 4" cowls on these cars or any for that matter. I like the new ZL1 hood. The louvers would take in a lot of water in the rain, I would think.

Thanks for commenting!
I kind of agree with you on the 4" cowl. But I do need at least a 2" cowl because my intake and carb stick out past the fenders. I wonder if the louvers are actually functional on that zl1 hood. Either way in my opinion it's gotta be one if the best hoods I've seen.

Ya I haven't looked into them really but I like them. If they are like mine it just depended on where you got them. I have seen a bunch like mine that aren't functional. There is something about a nonfunctional hood scoop or cowl that bugs me, so I had to go with a functional one.

I plan on using the ZL1 hood also. Just wish I could find more pics from different angles. Emailed Duraflex and they didn't even have any other pics.

Thats kind of goofy the company wouldn't have more pics... I guess we'll have to see if anyone here has one on their car. I think they look awesome!! I'd have to sell my hood to put towards the zl1 hood. Where did you find the pic you saw of it?

Ok nice. Do you know if the cowl is functional and if the louvers are as well?

Re: Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

Sorry, I don't. They didn't give me any information hardly at all. I wanted to know if the underside was finished but they couldn't even answer that. I believe it is because I did a search on Google images and they show some 4th gen with it on. I assume it would be the same for the 3rd gens.

Re: Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

Probably going to be winter some time. They did say they thought it was a 3"high scoop though. Lol. I figured if I couldn't find someone else who has it, I'll probably be the guinea pig with see how it fits.
I have way too much to get done before the hood. Hope to have it back on the road in a few weeks again. Can't wait to drive it again!

Re: Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

Oh ok that would work for me(3") I'd be interested to know how it fits and all when you get. I won't be ready for the hood prob till next year. I have to build a garage first and finish up the belt drive system and cooling system along with some other stuff.

I think that a 2" cowl looks perfect on these cars. A popular one is the GoodMark 2" cowl hood. Gives you plenty of space to fit your intake and cleaner, and looks awesome.

hey just wondering if anyone ever bought one of these duraflex zl1 hoods? I'd like to know how they fit and if they need lots of body work to look good. I bought their 3 piece 5" tall spoiler and it needed a lot of work to fit and be ready for paint. All finished it looks awesome!! Any input would be nice. Thanks!

Post some pics of your spoiler. I have a teal 91 and I'm considering the 5" spoiler.

Re: Which hood should I go with. 91' camaro

It looks like the Louvers are not functional but you could probably cut them open to make them so. Although, to really make them functional you would need to make a scoop that attached to the back of the radiator to make air flow through the radiator and then dammed upwards and out the louvers. It would be neat and doable but that hood would look awful with my heritage style stripes on it and it doesn't look like it's styling lends it well to a striped look.

The picture on the website sucks, but this is the best hood on the market (in my eyes)

Its what I have on my camaro.

Ty92Z the spoiler is still waiting for paint but is ready. My car just got painted and the body guy is still working on the ground effects, bumpers, and a hood when I get that figured out. I will post pics as soon as it's on the car painted. Tibo do you have a pic of the stripes on your car? I happen to like the way they have the hood painted in the pics on eBay. That's probably how I'd do mine. I just fear the quality is crap and would need much work. As for the heat vents not being functional I would cut them out so they would be. I don't think I'd worry about ducting them from the radiator, I would just let heat simply escape from them.
