The matte is cool looking but hard to take care of and if you get a dent or scratch anywhere you have to paint the whole section again and it still won't match up. So door dings and shopping carts are bad news. Better to just repaint the car again. One of our show trucks where I used to work was an 03 excursion and the owners son dropped the basketball hoop on the fender. We had in house paint and body but like I said after knowing and trying to shortcut and just paint the fender "they are who painted it orginally" ended up shooting the whole rig again. Anyways besides maintainence and repair the people that like it is few. I like satin because it still has some shine and to me is more "natural" looking and easier to fix. You really can't go wrong with black with clear coat especially a metallic or flake. I like the new tuxedo black on the fords. It's your car and no one can tell you what you should do. My wife loves the satin and almost got me to paint my car that way but I decided gm cosmic grey with satin stripes. There's a thread here with black cars and they'll be able to help you out best. Good luck.

Re: matte, satin or gloss black

If you plan on painting it yourself, I wouldn't consider any kind of matte/satin clear. Its a challenge to paint and how you spray it is how it will stay. You can't buff out your mistakes like you can with normal clear. You'll also have to be extra careful when washing, and if you ever need anything repainted on your car it won't match. PPG actually recommends you 'zone repaint' any repairs, meaning you'll be repainting the whole side of the car. Even then it probably won't match.

I think it works very well.
Very classy car.....and nicely done , and love the wheels and red bow-tie.

I have a red bow-tie on mine but the cops made me cover it with a license plate.

Oh thank you. Those are pretty old pics and there has been a few changes on the front end, but nothing too wild.
