Cowl hood decision

Ok, I need to run a 4" cowl hood. A 3" is just too tight. I can get a 6" cowl hood for $30 more. I'm curious if it'll be worth spending the extra $30. Please give me any input and if you have a 4" or 6" cowl hood post some pics too please!!

I'll have to agree. If a 4" is tall enough, stick with that.

I've run a 4" cowl hood before and it's sucked to drive around. You have to constantly look up and over the front of the car when turning, when pulling into parking spots. 3" hood is perfect

Agreed, i have a 6inch but i need the clearance and it looks mean in my opinion. Depending on how much you actually need it, and how much you drive it. Not for a daily driver thats for sure.

I like my 4" Goodmark, kind of heavy but no worse than factory. Plus it looks good.

Re: Cowl hood decision

Mine isn't the big 6 inch, but close enough. Its 5 inches. The strange thing about the cowl hood size is that even though we are talking 3rd Gens only here they still look different on each car. Some cars can get away with a little bigger cowl IF they are BLACK. A lighter colored car and that cowl starts showing up as UUUUUge (a little Donald Trump pun intended..lol ) Thats because of the lighter color popping against the darker shade of interior through the windsheild. I had an 84 sport coupe that was a red car that had the 5" cowl on it. The guy I bought it from had litterally just bought the hood, went through the cost of having it painted to match the car and 2 weeks later I removed it and went with the original hood he supplied. It was just too damn big and looked stupid. Now I have an 83 Z28 that is black. It has the same exact hood on it as my 84 came with, but for the reasons I mentioned above, it can somehow get away with it, and even come out mean looking. Everyone has their own opinion ofcourse, but heres what Im talking about... somehow the car gets away with it...
