Color identification?

I'm trying to figure out what color code this is. I saw an 83 TA with a gray ish purple/blue color that was original with 20k miles a few years ago. I was still in high school and couldn't afford it, but I fell in love with the color. The closest thing I can find is the third pic down in what I've attached. Does anyone know what color this is? I've also checked color codes on numerous sites and couldn't find anything resembling it. I'd like to paint my black firebird this color down the road. Thanks again!

Re: Color identification?

I came across Light Royal Blue Metallic. Other people were also talking about the Dark Royal Blue Metallic, but I can't find a paint color of this; only interior. Does anyone have an example of the Dark or the equivalent code? Thank you!

Re: Color identification?

I've seen that thread, I think I have it narrowed down to light or dark Royal blue metallic, I was just wondering if anyone had actual pictures of them so I could compare? I've come across others but some say it's Royal blue, others say light blue, etc. And I can't seem to get a definitive answer on what actually is light or dark Royal blue.

Google 1983 Firebird colors, the color that you described sounds like it's from 82
http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcod...gi?color=Light Royal Blue&tditzler=3523&rows=50
it seems this color was available^

FWIW, here's another reference:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

Use caution with any paint reference site. Sometimes the color chips don't appear exact, color codes for the year are incorrect when compared to a known code, etc.

Unfortunately, the best way to determine color is with the paint code that's attached to the SPID or other documentation for that particular vehicle. Yes, hard to do when you don't have it.

Thanks a lot for this. Thanks to you guys I have the codes, but there's still some discrepancy (from what I've seen) as to what's Light or Dark on the actual car. I have a whole year or so before I even think of painting it, so thanks for helping me get one step closer. If anyone can find examples of it on the car already, please post them up

Re: Color identification?

Here's an example of the problem I'm facing. This is what comes up on 82firebird.com as Light Royal Blue Metallic:

But I also saw this on a different TGO thread, which is the color I definitely am looking for:

The second image was found in this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...-trans-am.html , with okfoz confirming that it was Light Royal Blue Metallic. I would just like a confirmation that he is right and note the other site, because there is a huge difference and I don't want to mess it up!

Sorry I'm being so picky guys, I just really fell in love with the other Trans Am I saw in highschool but due to funds (college, new daughter, etc) , I have a primer/black overspray hybrid as a project. I'd love to see the right color on it when she's ready though!
