I notice this also: in the highway, I was maybe between 80 and 95 mph. The rear mirror started to brutally shake. You can see it in the video.

Is it normal? :/

its just the lens that is shaking right? My GTA used to do this. I never fixed it but was told it was common. the glue that holds the mirror to the housing has grown old and weak. they said to take something to pry and pop it out. never wanted to damage the housing so I left it alone.

 

nope, the whole mirror shakes. It's like it is not soldly attached to the door. Actually, if you touch it with the hands, it seems solid.

If those are power mirrors, the glass is mounted to the motor which is secured to the bracket holding it in place by . Any loose screws or worn mounting points can cause that shaking you are getting. Unfortunately the only way to fix or check that is by successfully removing the mirror without damaging it( not likely, but?) and tightening or fixing loose stuff and then replacing the mirror. I'd get a new mirror before trying any of that, but maybe you can get it off??

I had an almost exact same issue. My driver's side mirror vibrated so much that I actually got used to not even relying on it.

However, it is actually a pretty easy fix. The culprit is most likely the two 10mm or 13mm bolts (I forget which size they were) that hold the mirror housing to the door panel. You access them by removing the inner door panel. You'll see the two bolts at that point. Just tighten them up and you should be good at that point. Make sure you don't over torque them or you can bed the mirror housing or the door panel.

 

10mm.Looked like the housing is vibrating, not so much the mirror.

 

Its not the mirror its the whole door skin in that area.It happens if the gasket under the mirror arm is broken.There's a tutorial here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...990-trans.html ...scroll down to the mirror part.That gasket distributes the force on the door skin.

The real problem in that video is why you are letting that van get so close

 

Mirror mounting is as basic as 2 securing nuts with no adjustments so it's either mounted wrong, or something is busted/rotted. If you seen any obvious damage/defects to the plastic trim spacer under the mirror housing then it might be a good idea to get a replacement handy before starting,... because it's about time to pull the door panel off for an inspection and some adjustments !!!
