Problem with rear window louvers

Hey guys
Sooner or later I definitely want some paintet rear window louvers on my 88 GTA. Problem: I live in switzerland. Actually the best louvers are the OEM or factory louvers / cragar louvers but they are rare and when I find someone, they always say: "I won't ship internationaly". Well I get that, who the f* wants to ship such a giant piece to switzerland? So I prob. never get a OEM set...

Possibility 2: Aftermarket louvers look never as good as the OEM/cragar ones but I WANT LOUVERS. Astra Hammond make louvers for third gens.

The 1101 set looks like this and is one piece:

Well ok, cause it's a one piece set only the shipping from Jegs http://www.jegs.com/i/Astra-Hammond/602/1101/10002/-1 would be around 300$ because of its scale.

The exact same 3 piece Astra Hammond louvers set http://www.jegs.com/i/Astra-Hammond/602/1333/10002/-1 only the shipping is around 170$ which is O.K. But, how the f* does it look like? I've never seen the product on a car nor standalone. I won't buy anything what I've never seen.

After I will finally have one set, I want to paint and look like that (only in red):

Please, does someone have any advice or what is the best I could do? I need help!

Re: Problem with rear window louvers

With the exception of the factory louvers, and maybe the Cragar's (they're not the same btw), louvers are garbage.

I've owned three different sets of louvers at this point. The first set ripped off my car driving down a highway against a strong wind. The second set was cheap ABS garbage with cracks and a gravel driveway paint job to match the car. I gave that set away as soon as I could get them off the car. The third set is factory, and decent, but I'd never have bothered with them if the car hadn't been equipped with louvers from the factory.

They aren't terribly common here in the US, and no one wants to ship them here either. Once they're assembled, most people aren't going to get them apart so they could be mailed.

Don't know what to tell you...

Painted ABS garbage that scratched the hatch frame and glass... They were on there when I got the car.

Without louvers...

Factory louvers... Yes, I need to repaint the bumper cover.

To be honest, if it weren't an original DE1 car, I wouldn't have bothered tracking a set down. I like em well enough now, but I wouldn't go out of my way to put them on a car that didn't come with them from GM.

Already checked the whole net for louvers. These are the Astra Hammond louvers. I don't like the side pieces of the aluminium ones. Why don't they make aluminium louvers with the style of the ABSs

Edit: Well on your picture they don't even look bad though...

Re: Problem with rear window louvers

Let me just say that: If someone is willing to sell his OEM louvers and is not afraid to ask how much the shipping is going to be (cheapest) to switzerland, I will pay it as long as it's not getting me in a financial disaster. Thank you for your help!
