Replacing Door Pins
Replacing Door Pins
89 rs camaro Alright i had someone tell me i can replace them without removing the doors, but boy do they not look it. can someone give me a simi step by step on how to replace these door pins and bushing?
Re: Replacing Door Pins
Bottom or top? There's plenty of slop in the top pins to remove the bottom pins and bushings with only moving the door out of the way.
The bottom pins are EZ. Get a hinge spring compressor, Harbor Freight has them, and compress the spring, pull it out... Then tap the pin up with a hammer, use a punch if you have to. Sometimes it helps to wiggle the door up or down, left or right, to take the tension off the pin while you pull it out. Move the door out of the way, and tease the old bushings out of the hinge strap. Pop the new bushings in the holes, realign the door hinge with the body hinge, put the pin in until the keeper locks the pin, reinstall the spring, and you're done.

Re: Replacing Door Pins
I actually just did mine, and I took the doors off. It was actually pretty easy to remove the doors if you have a couple buddies helping. Once off, the pin swap was fairly easy.
....but I suppose it could be done without removing.

Yes it can be done without removing the doors. There are a few threads that detail this procedure.
