Cheapest place to get underbody neon lights??
I am getting some underbody neon lights in a few weeks and was wondering if there is anyplace to ge them,I seenthem in JCWhitney fo like $150,I need yellow ones
Rice, Rice, Rice...what the hell is 92GTA talking about! Just because somebody wants neon lights on their car, doesn't mean it's RICE. IROCME can do whatever the fvck he wants to, its his car! I also think yellow neons would look sweet with a yellow car...That my opinion.
Exactly, it's just a personal opinion. Chill out man.
I don't think I've ever seen yellow neon tubing on a car. I'm sure it's out there and your gonna need a power source too. Sounds like it might more be somthing a custom shop could work up for you though......

That'd look cool i agree. Anyone know what colour would look good on a midnight blue 83 camaro? I'm selling it soon and if i can increase my price by appealing to some rice guys.... higher price=more mods for my '84
I have nothing against neon's just for the record...... I drive one in fact... (sorry, bad pun)
If you want to know a little trick, go out and buy a big string of that christmas rope lighting (you know with the lights inside a plastic tube) It comes in a bunch of solid coulours (or be adventurous and grab a multicoloured one) grab a drill bit make some holes behind the rocker's, and grab some quick ties, and boom, chasis lights for 20 bucks. They aren't as bright as neons, but are cheaper, can be cut to any size, look just as good on darker streets. Also, you can go all the way around the wheel well ( i thought it looked cool, but he sprayed it with black rubber undercoating the next day because at some angles you could see the tubing) If you don't like them, you can always cut the quick ties and take them off. Or buy different colours and change them every once and a while.
When i did it to my freinds car (mine was still in the bondo shaping phase when i devised this little plan so his tempo got the prototype) we used a Dc-AC converter, (about $35 CDN) and ran the plug through a drain plug in the floorpan, got a little silicon to seal things up and bang. I havn't expirimented but i assume you could run it directly off the battery with a Radio shack switch without a converter. light bulbs work just as well AC as they do with DC as far as i know

I'm surprised that there aren't more people that know alot about neons on this board. First, the rice issue. Have you ever been to a custom Hot Rod show with classic cars and custom ones. There's a place here in town called Old Town and has one every saturday night. You wouldn't believe the tricks these guys use with neons. Most of them have them. So are you going to walk up to a guy with a 69' Camaro with a 454 and say your car is rice????? LOL. 2nd, I wouldn't buy from K-Mart, or any of your local STORES if you want a nice glow underneath. These kits are cheaper yes, but they aren't as bright. EBAY is a great place to get a good kit for cheap. Usually around 120 shipped in some cases and you get everything you need to wire it up. You should wire it off the battery and have a switch inside the car. They are fairly easy to hook up in most cases just one wire wires them together. And for some of you out tehre, they make a wireless neon kit that you turn on by remote!!!!! Those are sweet!!! Now, as far as color. Blue and Red are Illegal. You are not allowed to have any red or blue lights (brake lights don't count, lol) visible on your car because those are Emergency Vehicle colors(I think this applies to all states). If your selling it, go with blue since you won't have to worry about Tickets, if you somehow decide to keep it, green (eh, maybe), but Purple looks good on just about anything. I wanted Blue, but don't want tickets, lol. I've seen Yellow neons and I don't really like em, too tacky for me, but on a yellow car it would look good (this was on a red car with yellow accents, lol).

I think Low Glow is great because they are one of the brightest and they also have a lifetime warranty, Lite Glow is ok, and Street Glow is really good also, especially there Gold Series(that doesn't mean there gold neons, lol).
just got my new Summit catalog today and they have the street glow kits for 159.95.im doing it in the summer with a red underbody kit.i wish people would stop calling it rice
.it started on hot rods.period.neons are one of the last things that should be called rice.
.it started on hot rods.period.neons are one of the last things that should be called rice. lowglow is not bad, i have a red undercar kit from them. but, they are no longer in business.....
liteglow is a smaller branch of them; they work but quality is lacking.
streetglow is about the best you will get, the quality is excellent and they are bright as hell!
the standard gold series streetglow undercar kit should run you about 170 or less. don't pay any more than that........you can find it as low as 100 on the internet if you're willing to gamble with some of these online companies.
like i said before i have a red kit that looks great as well as i have a yellow kit and it also looks sweet. turns heads everywhere i go. i have it where i can alternate colors depending on what light my car sits in since the candy tends to change form red to gold. it's a very nice touch that gets lots of compliments.
don't listen to those who tell you it's "rice" or that it doesn't belong on our cars! it belongs on our cars any more than any other and as long as it's tasteful you won't regret it. the only time i could see it as a problem is if your parked with your neon lights on and you can't afford to patch up that rust hole in the quarter pannel...........then i can't defend you.
as far as companies though, stick to streetglow if you can. if you get a chance to see two kits side by side you can always tell who has streetglow.
just remember that in most cases it is illegal to drive with them on especially if you resemble any emergency vehicle meaning you have blue, red, orange, etc.
i know here by me you can drive with teal or purple but that's it. well pink to if your into that sort of thing.
but, when it comes to parking you can have any color you want as long as your not moving.........and during big cruises most officers will allow any color.
usually it's best to keep the neon's color matching with the car unless you have a black or white car which just about any color looks good.
although with blue, i would stick to blue. it looks really good. i have seen white and it looked good also. personal choice i guess.
