Wrecked
88 Camaro 305 74k original miles, (no rust at all on the car)
Need some help, or thoughts on what to do.
The car got rear ended, and the back got a little twisted (looks worse in the pictures). Im not a body guy at all.
Try to sell it...... part it out....... or try to pull it out...... or see about getting it repaired?
Attached are 3 pictures of the damage

Re: Wrecked
That is the twin to my 88.
It can be repaired but it will be expensive, looks like it will need the tail light panel and inner/outer quarter panel.
Will the other car involved be paying for any damages?

Car: To many to list
Re: Wrecked
Its fixable but that's not going to be cheap at all. Honestly if you will have to pay a shop to do all the work, you will easily exceed the value of that car. You would be better off finding another one and transferring your parts or selling that one and moving on.

im sorry to be this guy but I would consider it a loss if it were mine. the amount of work its going to take to get it straight again is going to cost a mint. im sorry about the wreck man. hope you are okay

Re: Wrecked
I took the car to a local body shop, explained to him i didnt want any paint work, just the body straightened.
He gave me a quote of $600-800 to do it.
I was going to let him straighten everything. I have scheduled to drop the car off on Monday, once i get it back il post some pics of how it came out

Looks like those folks know what they are doing. I'm glad to see you are sticking with the car.

It's just a typical tug on a frame machine...
You should hear a car being pulled....its pretty wild!

I can tell you've been around this stuff, lol. Have you done most of your pulling with a drive-on rack, or have you had to deal with a pull post and floor pots? Just wondering is all.

The first car that I ever saw get pulled on a frame rack was my own 1998 Camaro, and I thought it was gonna pull the car APART lol

Re: Wrecked
Yep, been in the paint game since 2002. I don't do any frame work myself, but have had cars pulled and know guys with frame racks. Been around drive on racks as well as post and floor pots. We have floor pots in the shop I work in now, but all I do is paint.

Re: Wrecked
Ah ok, similar timelines. I didn't paint much, but did everything else from '99 to late '13. It was a post and floor pots for me. It gets hard on your back after a while, especially if always setting up a jig for hard/multi-direction pulls. It was always fun pulling stuff with other people nearby. The creaking/crunching and usual popping and banging of the chain really spooks people. Then there's the times when something let's go and the post jumps, lol. I got away from the auto industry and got into custom farming of all things.

Re: Wrecked
Ah, yep. I went to work for a company that my friend helped start. We do a lot of CRP installs in the Midwest, mostly in IA. I've actually spent the majority of this year in IA (in Algona as I type this) for various planting and spraying projects. We've also baled for Poet a couple times. This past spring we planted about 12k acres and have a lesser amount scheduled for fall. We also bale a couple thousand acres in VA every year and have a biomass operation there. One thing is for sure, I'm not home much anymore. But it's still more relaxing than being at the old shop, lol.
