How do i know what style my camaro is?

Hi everyone! I just recently purchased my 86 Camaro. I absolutely love it however im not too sure what style it is. The title says CP under "style". But i don't know what that means... This is my first car and I don't know too much about cars, but I'm learning!

So it's just a standard coupe. Not iroc or z28, just standard?

I posted a reply on your "engine swap" thread in the "CARBURETORS" section that should answer some of your questions...

Take a few good pictures of the engine and post them here, we'll help you figure it out. Also, I left this link http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro86.html on your thread in "Carburetors' section. You can go there and use your Camaro's VIN# to find out what originally came equipped in your car.

Thats a v8, but it may have had a v6 originally.Mostly likely a std coupe, maybe an LT variation depending on the yr.

Mostly by the looks of it, you seen a few, you can tell right away, but one way is the number of spark plug (red) wires ( not the red electrical wires).Theres eight of them, another is how close the front of the engine is to the radiator, a v6 would have about a foot gap between the rad/eng.

Re: How do i know what style my camaro is?

There are dozens of small block engines from chevrolet, so it could be anyone's guess.Mine would be a 350 small block, but there are still dozens of varieties of the 350.
Pulleys are the round things the serpentine belt is wrapped around.

Re: How do i know what style my camaro is?

It's a pre-85 small block v-8. The only way to know what block and heads they are, is to look up the casting numbers.
But even then, they could have had work done to them, i.e. bored cylinders, or ported heads.
To know what the car was originally, you would have to decipher the RPO codes.

Frankenstein engine, looks like you might not be far off. The cylinder heads are pre '85. If the block is too, I would lean more towards 305 than 350 since it looks like the oil dipstick is on pass side. I'm thinking that serpentine setup is later than '85 for sure. From the position of the fuel line and vacuum hose placement I'm betting it has an Edelbrock carb under that air cleaner. Kickdown cable appears to be unhooked, not good if it's the 700r4 tranny. I like the A/C delete box, I still need to get one of those for my '83 Z28. Looks like it needs some TLC, how does it run? Is it strong?
