Hatch hinge replacement help
My hatch hinges are shot, I ordered a couple used replacements on ebay and there's this grey stuff around the bolt where it goes through the roof. can anyone identify the material used and where I can pick some up? And do you know if the same stuff or different stuff goes on the glass side also?
Thanks

It’s hard to tell from the photo, and I haven’t taken one apart yet, but it’s probably some sort of gasket or weatherstripping. There has to be some way to seal those bolts or they’ll leak constantly.

Re: Hatch hinge replacement help
Im doing mine next weekend, but if its anything like what i found on the rear spoiler/decklid its probably butyl tape. Its a real sticky, substance with the consistency similar to playdough.

The stuff is like old gum you'd see stuck to the bottom of a table at a restaurant. There's no GM parts counter anywhere near me so I guess that's out. Any other way to get the stuff or a different name? I did online search and only thing that showed up was bondo. It's not butyl tape.
