geesh, i finally got my hands on my dream car and its nicely modded. I'm now noticing the dreaded "torque cracks" up by the top of the passenger window(towards the back). it looks like my car is just twisting and tearing itself apart...like a pepsi can!! I know this is common for the t-top cars but damn man...this sucks. Now were the crack is...I SEE RUST FORMING!! I just had the whole car repainted and cant afford any paint work...what do I do to stop the rust at least for now? it's hard to see it b/c its small but it is there.....Time for some Spohn SFC's!

POR-15 and get SFC's ASAP.

but i cant use the POR-15 on /along side my actual paint job....isn't it a different color? maybee ill just spot treat it w/ a very small brush and use touch up to cover it up?

Nothing's going to look as good as the real paint but POR-15 makes a clear version. At least then it won't look or get any worse.

Man - get those fixed...If you got a base/clear car whey can sand the spots and feather the clear. If you dont the paint will continue to degrade in the area. Worse yet water gets under the paint and begins the oxidation of the steel AKA RUST.....
Like you said its your dream car...

go to eastwood.com, they offer a pencil type thing that cleans the rust from the crack than touch it up with a brush 3-4 light coats and color sand it, itll look very presentable,

are you sure those are torque cracks? most cars i've seen it was the factory paint that wasn't preped right in the common trouble area.......even newly painted cars sometimes get that right away.

T-Top cars have extra restraints from the factory but they are made to be good for a stock to mild car. People, if u are going to be crazy modding your car, get SFC's before u start.

i agree, subframe connectors are a must.......

i was purly making the point, chevyboy07 91's car isn't making enough torque to twist the frame; that is if his sig is up to date.
sure these cars make torque alot of it, but sounds to me like more of a paint problem in itself then the car twisting in half........although, it can happen.

I have those cracks and I only have a stock TBI 305 with 140k miles on it. It's not rusting, but it has been repainted. So, it probly isn't from the twisting, because I doubt mine twisted with the measly power it can put out compared to some of you other guys cars.

I have a 89' V6 RS and mine has them so it's not just power that does it. Mine was in an accident, that's most likely the cause for mine. I also have a few stress cracks in the cowl area.

Its not, sharp cornering, parking in certain places, hitting road imperfections, and launching in races and stuff all does it too.
