Front air deflector (installed)

Hello, my son has a 1985 Trans Am, that he repaint at technical college last year. They put a fiber glass ground effects kit on the car, and ended up wreaking the car, front end. So we are putting the car back to stock , got all the replacement parts except the under part of the front clip or bumper, just don't know, how the front air damp that redirects the air to the radiator, looks like, so we can order or find one. Pictures of the under side of the front , or the air dam pieces, would be appreciated.
Thanks Dave

Re: Front air deflector

Here's what I ended up buying, Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/82-92-Fireb...53.m2749.l2649 and I see Hawkmotorsports has it to https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/fir...efits-cooling/ .I found this item through my Classic Bronco forum, So if your looking for a air deflector for your 3rd gen trans am, this one should work. It attaches to the radiator cross member and to the side deflectors.

You should also replace those 6 nuts and bolts with the correct speed nuts and 7mm head screws

My son bought them from Classic Industries, https://www.classicindustries.com/pr.../10081966.html ,they were pretty close on fit , but two fenders holes for the passanger side skirt was off a little, so had to elongate the holes for the bracket to fit.

Those are temporary, We had to make brackets for each side, so I used aluminum and drill three holes in each bracket and brazed bolts in it .Because his nose piece was damaged so bad on the edge ,we couldn't use speed nuts or 7 mm head screws. Once done, I'll cut the excess of and use a nut that's close to the 7 mm screw heads. Here's pics after his accident, front tire came off at 60 mph. Ground the air dam off , and the hole edge of nose piece.

I'm not a 1000% for sure but I think the clips and 7mm bolts for the 2 side pieces are upside down. At least all my (original) cars are the other way. IIRC..

Looks great! coming along !

Your wright, I didn't have instruction and have never worked on this part of the car, plus when we got the car ,the air deflector was missing. I found instruction last night and fixed it today.

Re: Front air deflector (installed)

Thanks for showing the air deflector kit. I'm ordering one for mine.
My original is still good, but I figure I should pick up a spare while I still can get one.

Re: Front air deflector (installed)

Does anyone know if this kit fits a base Firebird, or Trans Am only? Mine is a base 85. Don’t know if she’ll ever run again, but if she does, she’ll need this for sure!
I wish your eBay seller had more of these...all I can find are the ones that “almost fit”. A redisigned version, is my understanding.

Base bird (without aero package) and formula use the same parts. 85-90 and redesign for 91-92

Here is the email reply from nooktranny:

I can read, but I just want to make 100% sure that this will fit my 84 Trans Am with W62 AERO package.
Attached is a picture showing what mine looks like:
https://carscoms.com/img/1984-pontia...37832648/1.jpg
Thanks, Mike.

We do not mind buyers being sure about what they are ordering... Your picture is of an 83-84 Trans Am with the Aero package, which this is correct. We are also an installer of the parts we sell.
The original one produced on the cars is 1 long one which went side to side, with a small spacer piece under the support. GM changed the design to the 3-pc style back in late 90's as they were getting torn off the cars from parking stumps. So, this one is correct, it will have a slightly different appearance being a 3-pc kit vs the single strip and spacer.
