The do it yourself stuff is very hard to put on right. Have a profesional do it. It is worth it.

And nothing looks worse then a large back windshield all bubbled over with bad tinting....if you do decide to do it yourself, make sure you get extra tint and practice on a junker, or something first.

I live near NYC and in the Bronx you have your choice of tint for $99. They usuallt take an hour of two to do...the bad part is you cant roll your windos down for 7 days so pull the fuse or something. I got my Acura Legend done and I had to hop out of the car to pay the toll on the bridge.
Yes...people laughed at me and the cops pulled me over a few times and gave me multiple warnings about my tint but I never got a ticket.

Definitely a pro, especially since you are going to want someone who can do the rear hatch glass in one piece.
Custman's point about dry times is well taken - try to do it when there are relatively warm and sunny days ahead, and try to plan to park the car where the sun can drive out the moisture evenly.

Just wondering, you said you want 35% on the windshield, are u talking about the top few inches of the windshield, or the entire window? Here in NY it's illegal to tint the entire windshield (top few inches are ok though,) and you'd have a ton of fun trying to see out your windshield at night if you did.

ya, i meant the whole windshield, it is illegal here in va too, but no one cares, i have seen other thirdgens with tinted windshields and it looks real good and im not sure whether to go with 50% or 35%.
To answer the second part of your question, window tinting is a good thing to learn and a good way to make extra money on the side (if you have the patience.) For me... the window tints are the only thing I didn't do to the car myself. And when I went to pick it up, I found the guy leaning on my hood watching tv... and had his handprints all over the hood (I hate having my car in the shop!!!!) Sorry to seem pointless but I just get irritated when people lean on other's cars... a sure sign of disrespect in my opinion.
