wtf?

i saw an 82-84 bird and to my suprise there was a weird silver button to the left of the steering wheel on the panel right below the vents, wtf is it?

weird??

Did it have a key hole? The older Chapman alarms had weird looking setups like that. Might've been one of those.

no key fust a weird button connected to a chrome box on the back with 2 wires

Maybe it's a starter switch of some kind--maybe the ignition switch is messed up where it won't start the conventional way. I've seen that setup before--where you still need to put the key in, but you have to push the button to start it.
