Windshield replacement and hatch window Question
Guys, I need to have the windshield in my 92 replaced. I have the factory windshield and it has a plastic gasket around the entire windshield except for the cowl area. These days it is common to just glue windshields in with caulk, or whatever the windshield guys call their caulk. Can I get the factory plastic gasket for my replacement and even if I do will the local windshield place be willing or able to do an old school replacement?
Second, I have removed the center mounted brake light in the rear hatch and put in an 85 to 90 style spoiler with the integral brake light. I always found that spoiler to be the coolest looking brake light ever made and so did the, much more difficult than expected, conversion a while back. Anyway, I got some razor blades and attacked the black stuff that the old brake light mounted to to remove the black box of what I thought was paint to make a nice looking hatch glass minus the paint. Well, as it turns out, that black stuff is not fazed at all by razor blades, alcohol, acetone, or brake clean. Is there anything that will take that black stuff off that won't take the glass with it?

Re: Windshield replacement and hatch window Question
Try lacquer thinner. Dissolves almost anything (except glass).

That's not plastic....... its rubber trim and its hard from the sun / weather.. .I think thee 90 - 92s got the thinner design.
Same as any old windshield... there is urethan between the body and glass bonding the windshield to the car... and glass shop should be able to do it easily.
Black stuff....Id need a pic to understand lol
