Firebird Headlights shake while driving

Lately ive noticed the popup headlights shake while driving. I thought it was a loose motor or the headlight assembly backing out but it seems as if the inner structure of the headlights have plastic bushings that are worn down. All the bolts are tight but I can make the headlight move even though the mounting points are stationary.

Is there a kit to rebuild the assembly or what are other people doing to fix this aside from finding used assembly to swap it out? I hate being that guy driving the car at night and the have the lights shaking behind other people or oncoming traffic.

Have you checked the pivot arm that connects the motor to the assembly? The nut might need tightening.

One of mine had been jiggling for years, and last time I installed new headlights, I checked it over carefully, and that's what was wrong. It wasn't easy to reach without taking the assembly apart, but you should be able to get to it.

I have a pic of my own that I've uploaded here on TGO a year or so ago, but I don't remember the thread, and I can't find it on my computer, so I got that one off of the net. Your username says 86, but the car in your profile says 87, so this is of the 87-92 motor.

Same with mine... the 10mm nut at the bezel side had worked its way loose after many years. Just tightened it and all is fine. Need to pp off the bezel but its a quick 5 minute fix / check.

My old 87' firebird had a shaking head light. Come to find out the pot metal hinge broke. If someone has a set of these they would sell for cheap, I may be able to 3D print these.
