Window felt guides

I'm finally getting to installing all of the hardware/windows in the doors for my project. They're pretty much all done but I can't figure out where these felt guides go. I got the one on the right but I'm not sure about the one on the left with the hook.

Re: Window felt guides

They go on the top of the of the door to stabilize the window. There will be two locations for bolts that they mate with.

You can see them in the photo below, just above where the arrows are pointed.

Re: Window felt guides

So both of the ones in the picture are just two different versions of the same thing?

They should be the same ones (the one on the left in your photo). I'm not sure where the other one would go...

I'm guessing different years then. I put these on where they came off on a camaro from the wrecking yard.

Re: Window felt guides

The style on the LEFT was used until around 89-90 or so and the one on the RIGHT was used in the 89(?) + cars.

You can use the 'late' style on earlier cars if you have too, but can't use the "early' style on later cars because of the other parts involved. The white plastic hardware mounted to the door glass has "hooks" on it during the later years and those "hooks" fit into the slot on the guides to better hold the window firmly in place. The window 'up-stop' was also changed at the same time. ( The 88 'up-stop' was shown upside down in that pic by mistake ! )
