My new toy :) got the TV
Hey guys, just got my new in-dash LCD screen in the car. It has a built in AM/FM tuner, 7in motorized screen, remote, all the goodies, Naigation input, 3 AV inputs, front, rear, and sub RCA's, and a cd changer controller. Bought a DVD player for it also to play my CD's and my movies. Watcha think?
love it...I am looking forward to getting the Pioneer one. Right now I dont have the money to get one...but soon enough I will have my PS2 or Xbox hooked up in my car. How much was that one? Did you look at the Pioneer one? My friend gets discounts since he works at circuit city so I can get them for a pretty good price.

Yes, I did look at the pioneer, but it didn't impress me that much because I thought it was a little overpriced. I like the Panasonic one and the new Kenwood touch screen. It was pretty easy to install except tons of RCA's and crap off the back that got in the way, the only video cables are the RCA's running from my DVD player to the back of the unit. I got it from a friend that owns a stereo shop. He owed me a favor and hooked me up on it. Set me back 800 and the DVD was 220, so a little over a grand for everything. Thanks alot, my fav feature is the ability to listen to music without having to have the screen open, saves the life of the motor. Crystal clear picture on it too. It retails for $1990 but some online places have it for 900 - 1200 depending on where ya look. But most of the time I see it about 1100.
I don't like it :/ Sorry man, just watching movies/tv/playing video games or whatever it is just is not important to me.
Nice stereo, yes.... everything painted interior with cheapass pedals and a tv for a radio, NO.
Anyways, I give you credit for the work put into your car though it does look sweet... just not really my taste
to each their own.

Hey Garret, as far as the pedals go, what kind of pedal would you suggest, mine where all beat up, and I think they look alot better. But the TV is for car shows, etc when you have nothing to do for awhile, also it adds points for the car, and I just like it, lol. The interior pieces looked to plain to me just black, and they don't make a billet kit (I wish they did damnit, lol). all that is coming out with the new console anyways, so it will be changed over soon, along with some custom interior work with the door panels, seats, and some little things
. But to each is own is right, I have some people say they love the painted pieces. Thanks for complimenting the work I have put into it though. I appreciate it.

Are those panels painted grey or is that glare? If so, it actually looks pretty nice that way. Better than a lot of wilder colors I've seen.
I like the Kenwood touch-screen better, but if you got a deal on that, then who cares, right?
Maybe one day if I ever go down that way, I'll have to stop by Kissimmee St. Cloud :lala: . I've been thinking about a trip to Rockledge.

I love it..........
one thing though, with the price of everything you paid you could of had a premier pioneer with 7"display and dvd player included in the unit and only spent another 50 bucks.
not to knock you though, i can understand; price is a huge option and the only reason i haven't bought mine yet.
after paying 900 for just my premier cd player 3 years ago i'm hesitant to run out and buy one of these things........although i'm dying to put my kandy painted ps2 in my car!
one question though, what did you do to bypass the unit when driving? and do you have to move the shifter out of park in order for the screen to have room to open?

Hey JZA, ya, if you are ever in town, stop by. Have you visited the Florida Thirdgen Website My friend Nathan and I started a little site
for all us Florida owners, and we're having a meet March 2nd for Dyno Runs and then a cruise to Old Town, you should stop in. And yes, the interior panels are painted, but like where the headlight **** and defroster switch are, I only painted the outer edges of that and left the inside black to give a nice contrast. Since my car is black, I thought all the stuff was too plain just black. There was a wire I was supposed to connect so the screen would only work while the parking brake was on, I just didn't hook it up
It displays a screen that says "Warning, only enjoy music while driving" But I fixed that, lol. Nope, the screen has enough room to open no matter what gear. If our console's weren't angled for the radio, it wouldn't make it, lol. I liked the Kenwood too, but I saw the picture on this on his display, and loved all the features it has. As far as the Pioneer, I wasn't too impressed with the picture quality on it actually. It is a bad *** headunit though. Thanks alot guys, even you Un4givin, lol.

Where did you get the grill where the fog lights are located? How much was it also? I like the grill, but you're just showing off because you can watch **** in your car :P
Awesome setup, man!!
Also, you guys are talkin about those "painted interior pieces" but mine don't look like that and aren't help on by screws like that, nor is the radio panel flush with the console like yours. Is your interior drastically different from an 87 TA's? Anyways, I really like your entire interior; makes me jealous!:hail:

What are you talking about my shifter looks loose??????? My shifter is nice and firm, lol. If it is because the handle looks almost sideways it is because The threads wore down a little and it turned. But It is still tight. I just bought a new handle for it so It's fixed now.
Thanks for the compliments. HeHe, **** in the car, lol. That's funny. My friend said that is what he is going to buy me next for a DVD movie, lol. I have my foglights behind the grill so they shine through at night. I bought it from a place online called Godfather customs. $165.

I would like to get the Alpine one but it is 800 at cost. I was wondering if you could change out the locations of the headunit and the air controls and flip the panel. That way you wouldn't cover up the controls and you could fill in the extra space between the dash and the pod. Could someone photoshop this or would you, Ram Air Z, be willing to test fit it?

do you mean put my headunit where my A/C controls are and my vice-versa. You can move the A/C controls, but not very far, up a little or down a little (would work better up). I had originally thought about cutting out a little hole above the pod, and moving the A/C control into the dash, and put the headunit in the A/C spots and my DVD player in the headunit spot. But I didn't want to cut out my dash and then it not look right or not fit, lol. Fill me in with a little more detail, and I might be able to try it out. You could also have mounted the unit up under the A/C vents and have the screen come down since it has a flip feature for upside down mounting. :lala:

Looks good man. I wanted the pioneer one awhile back, but I don't have the money. Maybe one day... then again, by the time I have the money your average joe in a kia will have one. It won't be anything special.
i agree, now it's almost like people expect to see that sort of thing at a show! since you got such a good price i can see the point. otherwise i might just wait a while myself.
