Image->Adjust->Replace Color. Just move the sliders.

It works a lot better if you select only the car first, either by using the magic wand, or the lasso tools. You can also use the Adjust->Hue/Saturation sliders to change the color. It's a combination of the two that creates the best color change jobs.

When I am just fine tuning the color I like to use image>adjust>variations. If I am totally changing the color (like in my sig pic below), then I do just like Jza suggested.

------------------
IROCnRoll
Blue502 - '86 Camaro Sport Coupe
Hugger³ - '88 IROC-Z

thanks..but it isnt my car...I wish. Actually the guy is sellin it...sry cant tell u where he is located b/c i wana buy it sooner or later...lol...he doesnt want to sell it that bad so he keeps postponing it...he said that by the time i am ready to buy it he will b ready to sell it. The only downside to the car is the hardtop...but i could deal with it. Even though i found this cars twin w/t-tops. This GTA in the pic has some work done to it. He told me it has 130k miles on the car....only 20k on the vette TPI engine. The previous owner raced w/nitrous and like melted the pistons or something like that. It has the hooker aerochamber exhaust...edelbrock headers(he doesnt know if they are the TES since he bought them used), MSD ignition, B&M megashifter, newly recovered leather seats. The car looks mint to me...I just need to go take a look at it..but that will be in a few months...for now i need a car w/better gas mileage....so i may need to go with a car other than an fbody ...but soon enough i may be driving around in her. There is also a chip in it...and he said it has the WS6 package..but he isnt sure what rear is in it...but he knows it is the stock rear. He wants 4 grand...do u think that is a lil steep??? Should I look for a GTA w/original engine and no mods. He seems to like fbodies though b/c he has about 3 of them...so i dont doubt that he takes care of them. Let me know.

James

Is there any way to truly replace the color? So far I have just been able to distort it to other colors. I can't figure out how to turn a dark green truck orange, or a black truck any other good color.

holy ****! is your car really that color, the orange one?? I dunno why you would ever wanna change that!! I love those kinda rust colors like the one jeep uses on the newer cherokees and wranglers. . I wish my formula was that color, although it does look good in black :-D

I assume you are talking to me and not Jim? I have two thirdgens, my blue '86 and a medium metallic orange '88 IROC. I don't like the rusty orange real well on my '88 so since it needs paint anyway I am going to paint it in a metallic version of '69 Hugger Orange (or as close as I can come with a metallic anyway) with white stripes. I'm not changing the color of my blue car, I like it the way it is. I photoshopped the blue one to get an idea of what my orange one will look like when it is done.

I was trying to be simple. Here's how I do it. Take image and duplicate layer. Use the Adjust Selective Colors and tweak to my liking. If anything else gets change color wise in the image that I don't want then I just use the Eraser and Erase it. Then Merge layers after I'm done and I'm finished!

I just copy the entore car body, but thats beside the point. The problem that I am having is changing the color. I can tweak it, and I can even change it completely. It is just that I cannot remove one color and replace it with another. Black cars stay black, dark green cars will never be orange. I can make a dark green car a great color of burgendy, red, blue, or... well... green, but never orange or red. Any help?

Here's a few complete color changes on that GTA pic above...

Almost all of that was done with the magic wand and playing with the tollerance for the selection, and then using a mixture of Desaturate, Color Balance, Curves and/or Channel Mixer...

Basically just play till you hit on something you like.

I dig the last one. It reminds me of Mother Mopar's "Sublime Green".
