It's not in the car but you can see what it looks like. I have a hardtop one that I was selling but I like it too much so I made it fit in my T-top car. It is a must mod, every othe thirgen member that's rode in my car has asked me about it. Plus you can't beat that cool little flashlight that does come in handy a lot. The buttons on mine diden't work so I wired it where the map and dome come on with the rest of the interior lights.

Here's the best shot I have (so far) of mine all set up in the car.

If you'd like any more pics, I have the whole installation process here:
http://www.tcnj.edu/~esposit3/oh/
any questions of comments please lemme know
PS: mods to the stock console included a new elastic band for the sunglasses holder, and replacement of the trip reminder gauges with 4 lighted switches for various functions.

one more Q
hey jim, where did you get the switches at that you installed in the console instead of the the factory number counters? thats a sweet *** idea, and would like to do the same on mine, i was wondering if you put each on individually in, or if it came in a set of four and you trimmed it down and put it in. lookes great man.

Nah, they didn't come as-is. I had to buy 4 individual switches from an electronics store. Just a note, it took me a while to find that nice of a switch, they weren't from Radio Shack. They were glued into a small panel of ABS plastic (i think that's the correct name). The holes were made using a dremel and a random bit. Getting the size took a few tries. You can use the front panel from the milage reminders as a template. The only difference is that the original panel has a lip cut into its front around the edge, which prevents it from ever popping out of the console via the front. This edge would be pretty hard to duplicate on the plastic, so just make sure you glue the sucker into place from behind REALLY well
Hope that helps

Hey guys, I have an overhead console sitting in my parts car, which has t-tops. Can I take that console out and put it in my hardtop camaro and will it still look good? Will it be the same fit? or do I have to buy a console that was made for a hardtop car?
Thanks guys, Ted

Recently I read a post where it was mentioned that a t-top version had been installed in a coupe (or the reverse, I don't recall which), but after having sold several of both and noting the difference in shape, I can't imagine that the fit was close. The t-top version fits the roofline in nearly a straight line whereas the coupe version is curved at the windshield end (note the in-car pic in this thread for the coupe version--the out-car photo 'appears' to be a t-top version). Moreover, the coupe version has a cardboard reinforcement piece under the headliner that is absent in the t-top version. Should you find an appropriate overhead, get the reinforcement piece on a coupe, the two screws, four mounting studs, and six or eight inches of wiring past the connector on either version.

Unforgiven: thanks!
I have a function picked out for all 4 switches, but I'm guilty of only using 2 of them on a regular basis
one is for the fans, one for my undercar neons, one for the interior neons and underdash lights, and last one for a couple leds hooked up to the alarm to act as a "scanner" of sorts when the car's armed. While the "scanner" thingy is hooked up, its not complete yet, and I simply haven't taken the time to run the extra wire for the fans, but for now I'm getting plenty of use out of the neon and light switches
James: You're right, the fit is off if you use the wrong console for the wrong car (t-top/hardtop). Although I must say before I was aware of the difference.. I had crammed a hardtop (curved) console onto a t-top (flat) space. It bent just enough to get it in position. The only thing that gives it away is a small gap between headliner and console where the bend is/was.

I remember that post, and I agreed with it because I had done the same thing, although I did know about the differences. I had just used a heatgun and gently bent it to the correct shape and no one's the wiser. It's still in a box somewhere now, though, because I don't want to install or sell it because it's incomplete.
