How Do I Disconnect this? (pic included)

How do I disconnect the cable running from the key hole to the locking assembly? (green circles) I want to take the entire hatch assembly out to work on it.

Thanks
Brian

you just gotta kinda pry it off on the lock mech. at the car, never tried to take the other end off, get something big and pry it off.

pry, twist, and pull, worked for me when i took mine off the other day. I twisted mine about 90* and was able to pull it off.

Is it a plug that is designed to come in and out, or do I risk breaking it by prying it open?

It should have two tabs that snap over the lock, just pry them out with a small screwdriver or hook tool while gently
pulling the cable away from the lock.
