145 speedo and white face gauge idea

Tell me if this will work.

I changed the speedo drive and driven for a rear end swap recently. After doing the math on an excel spreadsheet so I could see and compare all gear combinations, I wondered if it would be possible to swap the gauge face from my stock 110 to a 145 then swap the drive and driven gear so the new ratio would drive the 110 speedo to a real speed of 145.

The speedo would be the same but with the cover displaying speeds to a higher rate, I figured it would be a cheap swap.

I think this would also disable VSS. When I went form 2.73 to 3.42, the speed limiter would kick in at 110 on the speedo but I had a friend clocking me at 89.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance,
GCore

No it will not work, you need to replace the whole gauge itself, this question has been answered many times on the board. You must replace the whole speedo, no need to rip out the whole cluster, just the speedo, and replace it with a 145mph speedo.

and it's as easy as Mike said.

take out 110 speedo, not the face, the whole thing. Plug in 145 speedo, fin.

that's it. a good and easy "mod" if you call it that.
