I am getting ready to put a motor in my 89 rs and would like to remove the A/C box on the firewall and put in a standard heater box. Will it bolt right on?? I haven't messed with this before. thanks

I never used my ac and the box is big and bulky, obviously the orignal box or a non ac box is the only options....I'll let you know if I find out. it should be a direct bolt in.

I've done the swap in my car and it is a direct bolt in.
The only differences are
1) the fan motor, the A/C fan has a longer shaft and will not fit inside the non AC box with either squirrel cage on it. You either have to replace the motor or cut down the cage to make it fit. I did this as I had a fairly new fan motor, I haven't had a problem with it blowing heat into the cabin.
2) The fan speed switch has only 3 positions; Low is off, the 2 dots are low & medium, High is also off.

DM91RS, that heater box looks great. What exactly did you do? cut the old box and get 2 pieces of plastic to cover the open areas?

I also did this swap along with the heater control valve delete, it cleared up a whole lot of room in my engine bay and was a pretty easy job.

Yep...Two pieces of plastic, several small aluminum angles, button head bolts and black RTVOriginally posted by bradkeith
