Interior Paints?
Interior Paints?
I'm getting bored of looking at my all black interior, proly cause the exterior is black too. Anyone have suggestions on an interior color that looks good with black exterior(maybe a mixture of different shades of grey?). And also what type of paint to use and where to get it?
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
A series of gray shades with maybe a red highlight here and there would be pretty cool.
As for the paint, I would ask around and find a good auto paint supply store. A bunch who sell mostly to body shops will also work with the public. I found one in my town and talked over my problem with one of their specialists and their paint matcher. Since I was painting both plastic and vinyl, they set me up with a good product so I could use the same paint for both. I also had to match the original factory color. (This was for my '69 with yellow houndstooth interior). I shot all of the parts with my little modeling airbrush. Took a little longer but the finish was excellent.
Interior paints have a whole other set of issues that exterior paint does not. Especially since there are lots of types of plastics used in a car interior. Some paints won't stick to certain plastics without a special primer. I found this out the hard way. Also you may have to play around with flattening agents in order to get the right amount of gloss.
Avoid Saturday mornings at the paint store, every joe is there. I try during normal 9-5 hours during the week so I can really talk it over. Try to find the most knowledgable guy there.

I did mine half a$$ed in my corsica, just cleaned the pieces and painted them, I bought like all purpose paint from autozone, and I think it looks pretty good. It has been there for a while. I also did all 4 door handles white.
interior paint
I know JC Whitney has interior spray paint that looks good when it's done, it's not the cheapest thing in the world, but it's cheaper than paying someone to dao it, thats for sure:lala:
simple
I just went to home depot and the guys there gave me some really good primer and all purpose paint. i used flat paint because glossy paint would look too tacky. So get some nice red paint and go red and black like I did. You can also dye the carpets on the rear panels. I just ripped them right off, prepared and painted the panels, dyed the carpets, dried them, glued them back to the panels, then reinstalled them. Takes 2 days. I used RIT dye, BUT...I would bleach the hell out of the carpet if you decide to dye the carpet black. My beige carpet dyed a red/brownish color. I should have painted the panels red and dyed the panels black. Stoopid
