Door Pin Removal?
okay- this is starting to pi$$ me off. my doors are starting to sag (heavy SOB's), so i figure the bearings are worn out. hmm- okay. i'll just replace em. they should probly just pop out if take off the head of the pin and i tap on em a lil bit... nooo..... maybe if i hit a little bit harder.... mmm... nope. well what about if i wail on them with a punch and a hammer... odd- THEY'RE NOT MOVING! is there any sort of tricks i can use to get these things out? they're like wedged in there. i'm only 17 so i aint got a lot of money for a body man to do it but its really annoying and embarrassing sometimes to tell people: OH, make sure you slam the door AS HARD AS YOU CAN or it will leave a HUGE GAP in the window/body that constantly screams like a whistle!
oh yeah. its an 82 s/e

I recently replaced the hinges on my 91 GTA (body side only) and this required removing the hinge pins. On one side, all that I had to do was hit the pin and it came right out. On the other side, there was a clip retaining the pin. The best way I can describe it is it was like they wrapped a flat piece of metal around the pin and then put some ears on it to keep it in place. Once I removed this and stabilized the hinge, a couple of solid hits with a hammer got the pin to move some, but it was still rusted in place. I sprayed it with some WD-40 and let it sit for an hour and then the hammer knocked it right out.
GOOD LUCK!!!

I am talking about the lower hinge, the one that has the spring and cam for keeping the door in the open position.
However, I have a spare door (damaged by some stupid ******* in his pickup truck that doesn't know how to use a rearview mirror) in my back yard and it has the same style of retaining mechanism as I described in my other post.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but you will need to repair the lower hinges, that is the load-bearing hinge on these cars. The guy that lives across the street from me is an auto body man and he tells me that the upper hinge almost never fails.

If the original bushings were replaced once before with the oversized ones, they can be a bitch to get out. I took the whole door off to make things easier and used a punch and hammer. Keep in mind that the sag may be coming from the top hinge. I'm waiting to recieve an upper hinge kit from ANDYZ28.

its the upper door pin. i was thinking i could just move the whole hinge up a few inches so when it sags it lines back up with the rest of the body.

If you have an '82. then the UPPER door hinges will probably require rebuilding. My kits have helped many people with this same problem.
By the way. I have been to Brooks many times.
