What to use to replace radio when you take it out?

Anyone take out their radio and not put another back in? What did you use to fill the void? I have a few ideas, but would like to hear what has been done. Any pics would be great.

I haven't done this (I can't live without my new CD player on my daily driver), but if I ever bought another third gen to make into a hardcore racer, I'd delete the radio and put a switch panel in there. A row of toggle switches to control the fuel pump(s), auxillary fans, nitrous, etc. would look killer!

I never use it, ever. Might as well save the weight of the radio and speakers. The car is not my daily driver.

I have found that the radio space makes a good spot for mounting gauges.

OK, this is getting really frustrating. I put the part # in on their order form and it comes up as not being found.. I search their entire website and it comes up with nothing with that part #. what gives?

I vaguely remember someone's post saying that Classic didnt sell that piece anymore. Your best bet is to call them and find out.

Well, i usually don't listen to the radio when I drive the Camaro, but that is mostly because it is a cheap POS radio and cheap POS speakers, and I can't hear it over the sound of the exhaust.

Yeah, good cam and exhaust and I wouldn't need my radio either! Hey VampireHunterC, don't you have dual glasspacks? ...Right, I can see that overpowering the radio just a little bit! Plus if it's not a daily driver, then when you occasionally drive the car, you'll just want to revel in the sound it makes rather than turn on the radio as you would in your everyday car that your so used to the sound of...

Yup. Hedmen hedders and dual glasspacks. AND, I have to ride with the windows down 'cause I am still trying to get rid of the exhaust leak. Typical header problem. So, when I plant my right foot, all I can hear is road noise and exhaust.

If you buy or make a simple block-off plate, you might consider decorating it with a Camaro, Chevy, or bow-tie emblem from a junkyard car or GM dealer.
