Mine did it too. I took out the center piece around the shifter and put some glue with a strong bond. I put it in between the vinyl and plastic. I good some wood and placed it on either side of the console to hold the vinyl in place. I got some clamps and clamped it down. Left it overnight. And took the contraption off. It helped, but its not perfect. The wood keeps the glue from dimpling the vinyl where the clamp is. It holds teh vinyl evenly across the console.

You can try and band-aid it with epoxys or glue but really the only fix is to get a new one.

I pulled off the center cover and used teeny, tiny, finishing nails to hold it in place. Looks good as new and is still holding after two years.

Only real permanent fix is to use a Plastic Welder! It isn't cheap!
$240. from eastwoodco.com If you do buy one, I am sure many people would be interested in having you fix theirs. Good luck!

Has anyone on here just omitted the console from their car? I am considering taking the console out of my 1989 GTA, and relocating the power windows to the door panels. I just wanted to see if anyone has a car without the console.

I used 3M emblem and trip adhesive with vise grips to hold it overnight and it still looks good 4 years later.

I did similar to other posts here: I used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. I applied it to the console, when it was removed from the car. Working the adhesive well into the sides of the console, I then used large flat pieces of wood and c-clamps to apply even pressure to both sides of the console. I let it dry for 24 hours. The wood made slight impressions in the vinyl, but another day or so and they smoothed themselves out. It has been a year and a half so far and is still holding perfectly.

I used those short black trim screws with the donut shaped collar (washer). Space them evenly, drill a pilot hole first, and it looks great.

DITTO.......Super Glue. I dissasembled the center console and used small drops of SG to hold the vinyl back onto the plastic. Has held up fairly well.

Super Glue worked for me too. It's also easier to fix if the console is out of the car.
