I'm not. I'm running hawk HPS pads on all 4 corners. but ceramics are definitely good pads. dissipate heat better, low dusting, no noise.

For street, I've usually read to stick with the carbon metallics. The ceramic pads need to get warm before they work very well, so on those cold mornings, stopping won't be any fun for the first part of your drive. With that said, I don't know if they've made any advances in the ceramic pad technology.

Another pad that some people swear by and that I'd like to try is Stillen's MetalMatrix pad.

From what I understand, more and more cars are coming from the factory with ceramics.

Look into Akebono ProACT for ceramics.

$175/pair for my C4HDs!!! I'm lucky the guy threw a set of pads in with my calipers for the $50 I paid, lol.

Ain't ceramic pads also easier on the rotors??? once hot they stop better, less dust and less rotor wear???

Cause some metallic pads work well but grind the **** out of the rotors. Such a rough compound it could be used on a grinding wheel.

Bought ceramic pads from NAPA. Been a couple of months and haven't noticed brake dust. Stopping is good. Can't say that I've noticed any real improvement over what I had.

Think pads were in the neighborhood of $35 to $40

Pad selection is a nightmare. Everyone sells 3 brands of each kind with similar prices. Though most people opt for life time warranty pads in their price range.

example below.

I do wonder about them Z rated pads at the bottom.
Z rated is 165+ MPH. I run Z rated tires to exceed my speed limits. I wonder about pads???
Do they all have speed or rating limits like cars???

Are even $30-$40 pads gonna stop a car doing 130-140???

Yes, but not doing laps.

Picking pads and rotors is the easiest thing you can do for a commuter car. Just stick with Raybestos or Bendix if you are unsure. I personally prefer Bendix. There's no need for all these fancy pads, you'd know if you need them. And since you don't know, you don't need them.

I used the non Z-rated ones and I really don't like them all that much. They are grippy...sometimes. Other times it scares the hell out of me. Definitely didn't stop that quick from 125 the one time.

The guy at the parts store told me the Z-rated ones just eat the hell out of the rotors.

My next pad change will probably be Stillen MetalMatrix pads at all 4 corners. Dean seems to love those pads, so I figure I'll try them out.

We'll see.....

I just put on some $35 ceramics on the front of my 91. I will be interested to see if they are any better than the $20 pads I had on before. The last pair of pads I put on didn't have much dust at all, but they weren't ceramics.

Ya know that thing thing. One part is gonna wear faster. Which one you chose can vary on your stopping power. I mean you need lost of friction to stop really fast so something has to give.

I put Ceramics on the front of my car but they were $99!!!!!!! I hope they last longer than the cheap pads. $35 pads last 6K and come off in pieces..... $70 pads last 12K before being totally worn out. Unfortunately I still have 10.5" front / 11" rear rotors.... They seem to fade just as fast if not faster than the semi-metallics.....

What's bad is I got 25-27K miles out of a set of $30 Asbestos pads....... I hope these stinking Ceramic pads last longe enough for me to upgrade to a larger brake!!!!!
