1le ?????????

How do I know if I have 1le brakes on my 89 firebird. I don't have the sticker that was in the console. I have ws6 suspension and disc all the way around. 9bolt pbr rear brakes. I need to know because I'm rebulding/ upgrading my brakes. Any help would be great.

PBR rear brakes came standard (on rear disc cars) in '89-92, and from '93-97 also. Here's the non-1LE fronts:

?

So then, when someone is talking about 1LE brakes for 89-92 cars they are talking about the front calipers? Standard front are the crappy cast iron ones, and 1LE's are aluminum's.

Yes, The 1LE claipers also use two pistons in stead of just one on the stock brakes and the disks that the 1LEs clamp onto are about an inch and a half bigger in diameter as well as thicker.

Was there any way to have the 1LE fronts without having the 1LE option? I have a '91 Z28 and have the J65 option, so I have the 1LE rears, and I know that my fronts don't look like the second pic posted, but I am not sure if they look like the first. I will have to look.....

Just guessing, I'd say you have the PBR rears (the alum type) and iron fronts.
