E- brake cable problem
i replaced my rear right hand side E-brake cable this weekend as i did so i followed the instructions in the chiltons manual. my problem is that when i was putting it in the end of the cable must have come out of the T shaped thing and i did not realize this until i had the whole rest of the cable installed. my first thought was to undoo the tentioner on the T but it is rusted solid and i cant get it to loosen. is there any way i can loosen either cable without having to take the whole E-brake cable out? That does not involve the t adjustment?
I would like to include a pic BUT i have NO camera
.
I would just forget about messing with it but it keeps bouncing down and grinding against the Drive shaft.

You really need to loosen the tensioner and then the cable will adjust right. Soak it in penetrant for a few days and the bolt should loosen.

so just keep getting under the car every night and spray it till it comes loose? also is there any way to get ahold of the bolt part to get the nut off? i ask cause when i try to turn the nut it turns the whole forward cable.

You must hold the long bolt in place as you loosen the nut that moves the adjuster bar forward and back. In the pic below, you can barely see that the forward end of the long bolt has machined flat side on it, I used a Crescent wrench there, but you must hold the long bolt still.

Take out the four bolts holding the U-joint straps in the pinion yoke. Slide the shaft forward towards the transmission to get enough clearance to lower the back end of the shaft, then just pull it straight back and it comes right out.

ok cool. would it be possible to back my car onto car ramps to do this or would that just be stupid to attempt?

Ramps are evil, evil things, but it could be done if you have enough clearance under the rear bumper. I'd invest $50 in a cheap floor jack and a pair of 2 ton engine stands though. It's easier to get the shaft out with stands under the frame and the weight off the wheels anyway.

Can you jack up the front and lower it onto the ramps instead? I'm lucky enough to be a skinny bastard, I just crawl under the car without even jacking it up.

if the car ramps would stay in place i could just drive up them my car sits high enough to clear the front bumper but they always slide.

It's a pain, but you can do it in steps, too. Jack up the front, put stands under it, then jack it up again with some nice pieces of 2x12 or something stacked up under the jack.

Very neat. VERY NEAT!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have the animation in the bigger format? Or just the pic?
I love that thing!
Does it actually have the correct firing order?

Yes, the firing order is correct. The geometry is pretty close to scale for a 383 with an XR268 and 1.52 rockers, although I could render it for any small block with any cam, really.
This doesn't have much to do with the original post, certainly has nothing to do with brakes, and I'm not even sure if it's proper thirdgen technical content, so if anyone has any more questions about it, feel free to send me a PM.
