Brake Parts

Ok...88 5.7l 4 wheel disc, original hardware. Local parts stores do not seem to stock the rotors for my car. THe ones they have are much larger than the ones on my car. I returned everything, wheel seals and all, and got my money back. Can anyone reccommend a good place to get my parts online, or if anyone is familiar with central New Jersey and knows a reputable parts store, please let me know. And does anyone have a clue as to why the rotors they have for 88's are so much larger than mine? They tried to give me Raybestos p/n 6995 for the rear....aren't those for an 89 with upgraded brakes? Thanks for any replies, I gotta make this car stop as nice as it goes!!

Car: '88 Iroc, '91 RS, and a '70 RS
Engine: 5.7 TPI; 5.0 TBI; ZZ4/T56 on the ag
Transmission: A4, A4, slated to be a T56
Your '88 will NOT have the bigger brakes. If you said you had the "performance package", you got 1LE brakes including the larger front brakes and the 6995 rear rotors. Those are for '89-up rear disc cars, not your '88. Ask for non-performance brakes and you should be OK.

Just looking around at partsamerica.com and even the rotors that say are not the performance package are Not the rotors for my car. When I got the rotors at pep boys, both boxes indicated p/n 6995 however they were not the same rotor. One was the 6995, one was p/n 5066, which is supposedly not the performance package. Both of these rotors are incorrect for my car, something is weird, help!!

Hopefully it's just the bad picture, but the 5066 looks like the one that was no good, the one from the store looked exactly like that but it was larger than the rotor on my car, I hope this is the right one...if not well than I'll keep the reciept. And what about the front calipers? I have no p/n for them.

thanks for the p/n's for the rotors btw

With the car not being on the road can you pull some parts off of it and carry them into the store? This way a direct match up can be made and you are on the way. . .

RBob, that's the best plan probably, although there's two problems. First I have to get the factory wheel locks cut off, gotta get my dad's Dremel, second, the only parts store in my area, believe it or not, is pep boys ::shudder:: But I'm thinking that that's just about the only thing I'm going to be able to do. The last thing I need is to order parts off the internet and then have them be wrong. This is why I cringe when a mega-lo-mart type enterprise comes to town.
