DBA/Baer rotors vs. stock replacement/GM rotors
Hi guys..I'll start a new thread since "Search" is down and I can't find the thread I'm looking for:
There's been a lot of questions on whether Baer rotors are worth the price tag or not. For example, a pair of C5 Eradispeed (1 piece) replacement rotor from Baer is $335/pr at Thunder Racing, a stock GM replacement rotor is $50 or so at GMPD or through Dal. Baer's rotors are made by DBA Brakes Austrailia which make fine rotors with varying grades of performance. I am looking at using a DBA rotor spec'd for a Holden Monaro on another Wilwood kit I have in the works.
To get a look at the quality of a DBA rotor, look below. I have a set of DBA Gold Series rotors, drilled and slotted in a gold zinc finish on hand slated for a future project. I also have a set of Baer Eardispeeds although I did not take a pic of them. I will later on when I get the other boxes off of them...my shop is a mess. Anyhoo, the DBA rotors are VERY superior to the standard aftermarket rotors in quality, machining finish, mass, and appearance. They outwiegh the Raybestos rotor pictured by whopping 6 pounds, weighing in at 25# whereas the Raybestos rotor is 19#. What I also noticed is that the holes are smaller than other drilled rotors out there and the slotting doesn't come close to the edge of the rotor so there's less chance of these rotors cracking, IMO. You race car guys might not like the added weight but they sure can take the abuse and heat. And don't get me wrong, I use Raybestos rotors in a lot of my kits and they are a fine rotor but the DBA rotors are truly top notch in the class. Take a look.

Now stacked on top of the Raybestos rotor..note the difference in casting thickness..holy crap.
