Wasn't sure if I should put this on this board or the electrical. Anyway i was driving tonight when my friend told me my brake lights are staying bright all the time when my lights are on. When my foot isnt on the brake they are just as bright as when they are on the brake. Only my third brake light is flashing when i press my brakes. What could cause this?

stale light
Did you replace the lights with aftermarket one's or disassemble and assemble the ones you had on? If so you need to remove the bulbs and turn them 180 degrees and reinstall them. Then have a buddy press the brake and check. Also you may have the wrong bulbs for your app. If you look at the bottom of the bulb(the part that seats it self in the connector)it may have 1 or 2 nubbs I have no idea what you would call them, but they touch and make the connection for the power to run through. My 90' uses the one with 2, yours may too.

yea i did just replace one of them...I only did my left side though because it was out. Would that cause both of them to act that way?

The switch under the column may be a little lose and backed out of the holder. I recently had an opposite problem. I have the switch on my desk here. If I had my camera I would take a picture so you know what to look for. It sits in the brake pedal assembly and should be an off white/cream color. Check to make sire it is pushed against the brake pedal when it is in the up position

well if that switch was my problem...wouldnt my brake lights be messed up with the lights off too? I just went outside and with my lights off, the brake lights work fine.

"yea i did just replace one of them...I only did my left side though because it was out. Would that cause both of them to act that way?" It shouldn't. Is the bulb you replaced an o.e. replacement or a pepboys special!
