1LE prop valve results.
1LE prop valve results.
some history: 89 Formula WS6 came with iron front-J65 rears. Natually the brakes sucked; so I slapped on 1LE front brakes, and the brakes still sucked a$$. In fact braking was so poor, it was dangerous. I knew I had to be careful.
So I just got done installing my 1LE prop valve. All I can say is TOO MUCH rear BIAS ! The road is wet, and I'm locking up my rear brakes every where !!! like never before. I probably ruined my rear tires
The car stops much much better. However the only test drive was in the rain, and the rears are locking up way too easy..... I can't wait for some dry pavement, but the front still seem weak, or are not locking like the rears do.. although not as bad as before.... I can't imagine GM engineered it like this........ Has anyone gotten their 1LE brakes just right ?

My LS1 rears will lock before my front 1LEs will with the 1LE prop valve. Run a more aggressive front pad.

In the rain is a bad first test drive.....
actually doing the first test drive in the rain was important. NOW I know to be careful in the wet. Otherwise I wouldn't have ever thought to wet test and dry test.
anyway, it's dry out today, and the brakes are working pretty good. The car stops much much better than before. However I havn't gotten them to lock up yet, either front or rear...... not that I panicked stopped yet. but I've been heating them up pretty good.

You can see my brakes in the sig, 13" C4HD rotors in front and PBR 12"s in the rear. I also have a 1LE prop valve and I have never locked the rears. I know they are working well, but I have never locked them up. Once I get a little heat in the brakes these things become downright scary. My camaro will now stop as good or better than my Honda Shadow 1100. The front dives and this thing will stop so quick from high speed it is alarming. You have to be careful and not slam the pedal, I did it once and locked the fronts at 60mph. I have also waded into them pretty heavy from 100+mph and have never gotten them hot enough to even smell.
Enough bragging about my brakes, I have the same prop valve and rear brakes you guys do and can not lock the rears up. Could be because of the huge fronts I dont know.

I've got two valves in the shop...
Hi Larry, long time no see. I've never had a problem with my Iroc and the 1LEs, wet or dry, even on the old tires that are still on the car from when I bought it in '96 or so. All I did was install the drum master and the new prop valve, bleed, align, and go.
