Well I think the best way to do it is with a friend. Other than that I used a vacuum pump to pull the brake fluid and air out of the lines. I used a MityVac available at most auto part stores for ~$45.

Does your emergency brake work? Maybe your rear brake calipers are seized (IF you have rear disc brakes). Search the forums for "brake recall kit" for info about the recall on rear brakes. The brake recall kit comes with two new pistons and a few other parts that will fix the rear brakes. My rear brakes and my emergency brake did not work until I got the rear brake recall kit. GM Part # of the Kit is: 18019028 (you can get it at GMPartsDirect.com)

Well I heard the rear disc was very hard to lock up, but I'm not sure about rear drums. Do you have a chilton manual? If not check out Autozone's repair pages, I think they're copies of the chilton manual.

There are adjusters between the two shoes behind each drum. Over time the shoes wear down and excessive brake pressure is required for the rears to engage. They self-adjust by making repeated hard stops in reverse. Then, repeated stops in forward and reverse. If that doesn't help, check your fluid level. If its ok, then bleed your system from the farest point from the master brake cylinder. Make sure you bleed your rears AND fronts; not just your rears. Good luck
