E-brake Broken????

Alright, so last night I parked my car in my driveway and put the e-brake on. Since my driveway is so steep, I need either my e-brake or i have to jump out and put a block under my tire quick.

When I pulled the e-brake there was resistance (like normal) then it just went away. I heard a little bit of a snap, but i'm not sure if it was the cable that broke. Any one know where these e-brake systems are the weakest?? I'd like to get some input and know a little more about them before I just start tearing the car apart. Any help and knowledge that you guys can offer would be great. Also do i have to start junk yard hunting or is there somewhere where I can buy a new e-brake???

Thanks,
Kyle

Re: E-brake Broken????

Most likely the cable has broken. Check the mounting point toward the front of the tunnel above the drive shaft. New cables should be had through any parts store.

JY for the handle. So be a dime a dozen. The cable can be had from any parts store, I'd think.

Re: E-brake Broken????

There would be no reason for them to be different that I can think of.

This is what I found:

http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product...dept%5Fid=1080

Note the "All" except 1LE--which is odd because I have an 85 and when I went to 1LE brakes on all four corners, I kept the same handle and all functions as should be.

Re: E-brake Broken????

I fixed it. Turns out that the passenger side cable came out of the splitter underneath the car. Took me a little bit to get it back in there. Kinda hard with the 3" exhaust and the driveshaft in the way. I was kinda short on time, so I didnt have any time to remove those.

Re: E-brake Broken????

Yes it was.... In a major way. I would like to tighten up the tensioner... but once again.. taking the exhaust apart and the torque arm and driveshaft off in a big PITA. Especially when your exhaust guy makes you exhaust fit as tight as he can get it so it doesnt leak... I tried pulling that intermediate pipe off... and it fits so tight that its almost impossible.
