My C5 Z06 brakes are sqeeking... Pad retainer clip? Kinda sounds like they are rubbin
OK well yesterday I installed a set of C5 Z06 front brakes. They went in fine but now I have 2 questions.
1) are the bleeders supposed to point up or down? Would this being wrong maybe make the clips make this noise?
2) What could this noise be? It is very high pitched as is def coming from the brakes. I didn't use any thing to "dress" the pads or anything else, it all went in dry. Do I need to lube something? thank.
Hope to get some suggestions soon. Thanks again.

bleeders go up.
I used new rotors and new pads, didnt use any dressing of any kind.
You have to swap the calipers around anyway, so you should be able to see where they are scraping, it may be caused my mounting them upside down, im not sure.

I flipped them around yesterday. God that was a stupid mistake. I bled them again, but ran low on fluid tossed some in but it got too late for me to bead them again. They stop, but I lock up the brakes a little too easy now, so I need to play with the adj. prop. valve today after work.
I also have a strange problem that when I hit the brakes sometimes they don't want to let go. This happened with my stockers from time to time, but went away before I fixed my switch around problem. Now it is back. Only thing I can think of is that I need to re-bleed again and again, and make 100% I have gotten rid of as much air as possible.

Well I drove it out to lunch today. Still makes the same noises, but does it less. Should I wait like 100 miles to see it if goes away?
Maybe they need to settle in...
I have no idea. Or should I try to spray down different parts one at a time with white lithium grease to see what kills the sound and then go from there...???
I dunno. I just want them to be 100% quiet. My exhaust is loud as hell, but when you drive next to a wall real slow you can hear them. Gayness...

are you still using the stock rubber flex line? they may be collapsing and causing the brakes to stick.
Im lost as to the squeak, is it constant or a pulsating squeak?
is it all the time or only when you are on the brakes?
I know the pad retainer clips rub is you swap rear z06 calipers on in place of ls1's, but the fronts shouldn't, i didnt have any issues. the retaining clips should be snapped all the way into the abutment, i dont think you can install pads with them out a bit.

I have no rubber lines at all.
The noise is constant, not just when i am on them. And it gets louder and quieter as it pulsates a bit. Def the clips rubbing the rotors a little I think. Not sure how to fix it though.
