87 rear disk to newer PBR set up?
I'm going to pick up a new rear for my camaro which is out of a 87 GTA. Not sure how the brakes are currently, but I'm definately going to be replacing most of the components anyways. What all different parts are needed to swap these brakes to the newer set up, just rotors, calipers, prop valve? Or do I need additional mounting brackets, e-brake cables, etc?

If you are going to change the brakes out, just get a rear that already has PBR's on it. It may cost more or take longer to find, but it will be worth it.
You have to change the mounting plate, caliper, different pads, larger diameter rotor, different e-brake cable...
Just find a rear that already has PBR's so that you don't have to spend an additional 6-$800 for all of the other brake upgrades.

So true. I picked up a PBR posi 10 bolt out of a 90 that has 3.23 gears (mine had 3.27, not a huge change) for $100. Keep your eyes peeled for people parting the later years.
89-92 had PBR, 90-92 had the 7.625" 10 bolt moniker rather than the 7.5". Or you could even snag a 4th gen rear and your tires will move out about an inch on each side, if that. They're ever so slightly wider.

The big problem would be the backing plates. Ed miller sells a set that he makes now on his website (http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i29.html) but at $85, you might be able to snag a whole rear axle for cheaper than just the brackets depending on your market.
Edit: If you get a later rear and want bigger brakes, you can use the 93-02 Wilwood kit (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku) it's $650 and is a 12.2" x .81" rear caliper kit that includes parking brake. You'd need the cable from one of those cars though.

Re: 87 rear disk to newer PBR set up?
Thanks guys, I guess I should explain a bit more. My rear in the car now is dead, I'm one of the few still using a 3rd gen for a daily driver. Have spent months trying to find one and am having a bit of difficulty here in the SE (I'm a high risk loan car dealer parts man, I know the yards, just nothing here). Found one, didn't have the cash, and it's sold but he has an older one. I can get new parts for cheap, so no worries. Will be putting on vented/slotted rotors to match the front anyways and some good pads at a minimum. So most of the parts for the swap, I'm going to be buying anyways, so it sounds like not that big of a deal. I'm not dead set on putting the PBR's on it, more interested in the posi and better gears. But if its not a big deal I might as well buy the better stuff than buy new stuff thats not as good.
So aside from calipers (w/brackets), pads, and rotors the only other two things I need are an e-brake (I'm assuming a 92 drum e-brake cable is different as well) cable and a different backing plate? Is this correct? Prop valve is the same?

I swapped in my rear this spring and HATE the brakes. Find the right one the first time. I would rather have drums again over these stupid iron calipers.
Find an axle with PBR's already installed (cheapest way to do it). Even if you can get a good price on parts, it is going to be much cheaper to just find the right axle, even if you have to pay shipping.

Like I said I'm going to be buying almost all new brake stuff regardless. Nor can I find one, and have to get a rear end. And the prices are the same for either or brake parts. I just want to make sure the additional stuff I might need to do the swap... ie backing plate, proportioning valve, hoses, cables?
