Re: Pic Of Drum Brakes

This is mine as I finished up rebuilding them after buying the car. The picture is the driver side and as you can see, the longer shoe goes to the rear.

Re: Pic Of Drum Brakes

Since you already have a good pic, a thought for you.
If it's been a while since you last drained and refilled the diff, wouldn't hurt to do the axle seals, if not bearings too. While your in the area.
That's what my passenger side rear looked like when I bought it.
Parts stores told me they couldn't get the seals, dealer wanted like $15 a piece, got them from summit for $3 something a piece.

One more thought for you.
If you weren't thinking of flushing the old fluid out. This is what came out of the front of my 96 Silverado.

Re: Pic Of Drum Brakes

For my rebuild, I didn't remove the wheel cylinders, they weren't leaking at the time and still weren't when I replaced the whole rear end for disc. I rebuilt these because the previous owner decided to replace the shoes after putting some nice grooves in the driver side drum, since I was replacing drums and shoes, the rebuild kit (mostly springs and clips) wasn't a whole lot more.

Re: Pic Of Drum Brakes

I took my drum off the drivers side to look at the ebrake assembly. I haven't figured out whats wrong yet, but I haven't taken it apart yet either. I was a little occupied with the transmission today.
so heres my pic.
