anyone know of a swappable brake booster that is more slim that would hold my master cylinder closer to the firewall? thanks

ok I called this company and they confirmed the 9" single slimline is the thinnest thirdgen specific brake booster they offer, and its about 2" thinner then stock, which of coarse pushes back the master cylinder 2" as well. This is just what I need to get the procharger intake clearance I need.

And a future update for anyone looking..

I recieved this smaller brake booster and it was not a direct fit, but it fit pretty easy. I had to drill out the rivets for the bracket on the stock booster and slide it over the four studs of the new booster. I also used the dust boot on the back of the stock unit for a better seal against our firewall cutout. direct fit to the firewall otherwise.

The bracket they send you to bolt to our brake pedal is completely universal! its a stud with all thread on the other end, and a u shaped peice of metal to clamp around a pedal rod.
Our brake pedals are offset so that doesnt work.
I cut one ear off the u bracket provided so its now a L shape, and I slide the pre drilled hole over our stud on the brake pedal rod, and used our stock snap ring to hold it on, and I cut down the stud about 2" so it would clear hitting the brake pedal when depressed.

Hope that doesnt sound too complicating! its not!
Just need a Drill for the rivets and a dremel for Easy moding the brake pedal rod!

 

what you do with the brake hard lines to the master? They bend/move that far back or do you need to make new ones?

They have many coils from the factory, you can carefully unwind them a little to get them to move back. I also have an adjustable proportioning valve and line lock located right below the master cylinder so my lines had to actually be shortened a bit as well. but to answer your question, yes they will move

 

Too bad 2" is all you get

I need this much room, plus some for my intake tubing


Back to square one with modifying an import booster. Those things are TINY

 

I went with an fourth gen master cylinder which saves about another inch. I think..
compare where yours ends with mine..

 

Thanks for the info. I think my booster may be damaged or maybe I just need to brakes bled more.

Did the C5 brake swap andnow the pedal feels extremely stiff like its not getting vacuum assist. The brakes feel worse than stock. So I will try to bleed the brakes more but I fear the booster may have been damaged from all the turbo heat. Not sure if that can happen or not. If I have to replace it, this slimmer one would be a good option, but too bad its gold

 

Why wouldn't you use the elbow that came with you procharger kit so you don't need to modify anything or you looking for a cleaner install look?

 

I dont like the air filter sitting on the headers. Hot air intake FTL. Elbow of some sort to run up higher towards the rear of the cowl would be ideal or some fresh air source

 

1. I did not get an elbow.

2. I bought an elbow but a 4" elbow still wouldnt clear the stock master cylinder/booster combo.

3. I am thinking of grabbing a k&n with a 45degree kick to it.

4. at least my headers are ceramic coated.

5. Maybe I can put a heat shield under the filter as well?

 

heat sheild will definately help some but there is still going to be hot air in the engine bay. I'd try to find a way to channel some cold air in there. It will really help the power output on that motor. Possible meth injection would help as well or are you on E85? I forget.

 

I plan to have meth injection as soon as the engine is tuned in. Holley Hp has a great meth control algorithm built in.
