Stok vac. canister big enough?
My motor is only making 10" of vac. so I need a vac. canister and I was wondering if anyone has tried to use the stock ball(not being used for anything on my car) as a vacuum canister. Im not sure if its big enough.

whether its big enough or not, if you are not making enough vacuum, an extra canister will only provide you will a larger quantity of 10" vacuum.

Re: Stok vac. canister big enough?
Ive read a few posts were members say 10" is enough for proper booster action if a canister is added? It makes sense because the pedal goes down @ halfway before becoming hard. Have I read incorrect info?

Re: Stok vac. canister big enough?
its not enough, you will have to use a vacuum pump or something like that.
If you want to try to use a canister, you can, they are not very expensive. I have one im getting rid of, aluminum crane piece, almost new. If you want to give it a try LMK, 30$shipped?

as for your pedal feel, thats exactly what my car was doing because of a lack of vacuum, but it was due to a leak.

he nailed it dude. 10"aint enough. bare min 15" maybe but more like 17" needed. you can have 34 canisters or reserves but it wont help because youll only have a larger amount of 10" vacuum supply. make sense?
you put a cam in it,live with it. its the downfalls of building a car. that why nos guys love it. they retain stock characteristics of a motor but have maxpower at the push of a button. do any kind of search .youll see youre not alone. simply put buy a vacuum pump from ssbc for around 200 or try a hydroboost kit for 700. less if you scrap and claw.theres a ton of posts here onit. dontttttttttttttttt drive with only 10" of vacuum. yes it will stop thwe car but when you really need the brakes, boommmmmmmm youre crashed. the oldest saying in racing. youre only as fast as yourcar can stop.

Re: Stok vac. canister big enough?
maybe I was thinking of the vacuum at the wrong point, the canister made the brakes feel good. When its idling itll pull 10-11" but as soon as you come off of idle it goes to almost 19".

Re: Stok vac. canister big enough?
thanks, its still not the greatest when in bumper to bumper traffic so next year its getting a vac pump or (more likely) a hydraboost system.
Re: Stok vac. canister big enough?
that sbecause youre only pulling 10-11" of vacuum!!!!!!!!!! bumper to bumper when you need them brakes. under 15"=no brakes period. 1000 canisters wont help a thing.
