Re: E Brake question...

I suppose you could remove the console and drill out the safety latch, but I can't quite picture it in my head at the moment (been a long time since I worked on it).

My question to you is have you seen other vehicles with this modification? It's meant to be a safety so it doesn't get activated by accident. But I guess as long as this car doesn't see passengers it should be ok.

Re: E Brake question...

the hillbilly way would be figure out where the inner shaft goes thru the handle, depress the button ,hold it and drill a hole completely thru the handle then stick a bolt in it.

or pull out the handle and disengage the ratchet

Re: E Brake question...

If you take off the cover on the e-brake handle and then pull the e-brake handle up up you'll see a small spring thats about 2 inches long through the side of the handle. Thats the spring that pushes the button on the end of the e-brake handle out. If you take a small screwdriver and push the bottom of the spring up towards the button on the end of the handle and slide the spring off the little retaining tab the whole button and locking mechanism will come out of the underside of the ebrake handle. Then the ebrake will work just like you want it to, there just won't be a button on the end anymore.
