Brake help please i wanna drive my car

So under the car there are three or four lines i believe running to the rear left wheel area. There was a leak coming from one of the lines so i jacked up the car to take a look. when i had someone press on the brake, fluid starting coming out of one of the lines. so i took a wrench and tried tightening the fitting but the thing snapped away from the line. do i need to replace the whole line or what can i do. its a really long line that goes from rear left wheel all the way it seems up to the master cylinder possibly. i will take some pics tomorrow but what do you think i need to do. i really wanna drive my car. thanks

Re: Brake help please i wanna drive my car

your kinda screwed only in that brakes you dont fool with. im assuming its from the rear line going into the flex line..youll need to somehow replace that lineor piece it in but in doing so youll need a double flaring kit to do it right. then you could jst gcut a section out use a brass connector and youre back in the game. problem is most folk dont have a double flaring kit nor know how to use one. if thats youre deal its not so bad.remove the entire line to the proportioning valve. it should be held in by about 4 clips. not too bad and you already have one end off. the hardest to get to will be to front going into the prop valve. it may be accessabile from the bottom but either way dont worry about saving the fitting since youre replacing it. remove everything trying to keep the line intact. bring it to napa, not autozone and see if they can duplicate the line. some can if not they have the premade lines and can set you up with what you need. go home .bolt it in./bleed the rear brakes and youre back in the game. its not so bad actually. dont use no **** *** compression fitting on a brake line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

depends on the condition of the line, if its rotted bad, you should replace the whole thing. If the line is fine, you can reflare the end with the proper bubble flare tool. i assume the line broke where it attached to the flex line?

yeah the line is in good shape it was only leaking at the end where the fitting connected to the line and me being a dumby twisted the fitting right off. i dont want to replace the whole line if i dont have to.

Re: Brake help please i wanna drive my car

the line is 6mm. You may be able to find a splice at a autoparts store, it will be a flare union of some kind. you will have to flare the lines for it.

the next trick is can you even get the nut apart that is still rotted to the flex hose? if you cant get that apart, you have to replace the hose and get a new flare nut for the hardline. not the easiest thing to find. forget what size it is offhand.

So here are a couple pictures to show you what line im talking about and the fitting that it was connected to. I just need to know if i can just replace the fitting somehow because the line itself seems to be fine and not leaking at all

Re: Brake help please i wanna drive my car

you can replace the fitting if you can bubble flair the line. if you can go to napa, get a 12"-15" piecec of hose, cut your old one off at the appropriate spote, bend the loop and add the conector.. if not youll need a whole new line.sorry no 2 ways around it

Re: Brake help please i wanna drive my car

i already told you what to do. thats the connection for ht flex line at the back of the car. Get the broken piece of line out of the nut so you can re-use it. Then pickup a cheap bubble flare tool, and reflare the line and hook it back up. From your pic, there is not must straight area left in the line, so unless you can rebend it a little to get a long enough straight section, you will ahve to cut the line back further and splice in a new piece.

thats provided the line is not rusted worse than it looks in the pic and just crumbles when you try to flare it.
