C5 rear brakes

Already have everything for my front swap, now getting the rear parts together. I already have C5 rear calipers rotors pads and abutments so I want to go C5 route for the back. Who here has actually bought one of the rear bracket kits from Flynbye or kore3? Opinions? Also if there were any problems people ran into?
Thanks

Re: C5 rear brakes

I have a Lt1 style rear end in a thirdgen. I have C5 calipers Stock rotors and pads. I actually placed a order on you sight last night (sent you a email as well) may have to change that order to the new style (depending what it is.
What to do.
Not sure what else you need to know

Re: C5 rear brakes

Was talking to ed today (great guy) and it doesnt sound like it will work for 9bolts right now anyways, atleast thats the way i understood it. It also would require the use of Z51 rotor not the c5 (but that may also change) he is still working on it and trying to get everything set. Give him some time and it will be the most factory looking rear break setup you can get.

Re: C5 rear brakes

Ed,
Is that what I think it is?
A LS1 backing plate, A C5 caliper, and an C6 Z51 rotor on a 10 bolt axle?
I'm guessing the e-brake alignment isn't perfect.

Re: C5 rear brakes

Ed, you sell any brackets that would allow a C5 caliper to mount to a Moser 12 bolt?

Re: C5 rear brakes

Has anyone attempted at mounting the C6 brakes on a third gen yet. I see the setups out there and was wondering if it would work. I know there would be some fabing up but didn't know if anyone has done it yet.

C6 brakes will mount up with the original c5 kit that Ed sells all you need is the c6 rotor caliper and abutment bracket. I went that way so I could always upgrade in the future if I wanted.

Ok so I just need to wait until he gets the setup right for the 9 bolt and I'll be in business. Thanks

Ed any idea when you will have the kit ready?

Re: C5 rear brakes

I bought my c5 brackets from ed. They work great in my 84 TA. I had disc rear from factory. Only problem I had was getting the axels back in (C clips). The gasket between the backing plate and housing needed to compress and I could not do it by hand. I used a C clamp and the axels went all the way in so I could put the C clips on. On one side of the car you have a hard line to caliper. I removed the old hard line from Tee block put in 8 inch pre made line. I then installed C5 SS braided brake lines on both sides. As for E brake cable I used C5 cables and made mounting brackets. Also if you use L & R calipers one side faces the rear, other faces front. You will need custom E brake cables. I used 2 of same calipers(sorry dont remember which ones) and made the calipers face front this way I could use c5 cables.
Learn from other peoples mistakes only do one end of the car at a time check it out first before you start the other. If you have a problem its a lot less to check out.
It only cost you more brake fluid.
If you have more questions just PM me. I will try to help you.
