Hi.

I´m wondering if it´s possible to put on the z06 brakes on a third gen? does it work with the e-brake if so? or if their is anyone who know complete kits? i´ve found c5 brake kits but i want bigger=)

 

ed miller has a rear e brake conversion, I don't see why it wouldn't work with the 06 calipers, they are bolt on on C5/6 caliper brakcets if you use the z06 rotors.

I have z06 front and rear brakes, working on the rear brackets but I'm using spot calipers for the parking brake

 

okey.so i can use the c5& caliper brackers and still use z06 brakes front and rear? where can i find ed?

The front is all bolt on, the rear I'm not 100% certain if his C5 rear caliper conversion with parking brake stuff works. In theory it should also be a bolt on deal
I'm running 14" rear discs so I have to fab my own.

Be warned though, you need massive caliper clearance or wheels with a lot of offset that require adapters to clear these

yes.i saw that right now, i found this kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-06-07-08-...6ce3b9&vxp=mtr and i need really big wheels. does it fit with 19" wheels with right offset? or should i consider smaller brake kit? what would work much better than origninal, wilwood brakes or corvette c5? any other sugestion?

 

Yes, it should fit 18s too, that's what the C6s came with on the front.

The C5 brakes work perfectly fine, only reason I did awat with them is they didn't fill out a 19 wheel with 13.5 rotors and I didn't like how the calipers looked, being that I have a very open wheel that exposes the caliper. From a braking performance, for a street car it's perfectly fine.

Same guy, Ed miller. the C5 rear caliper does not have a parking brake mech, as such you need to use the C5 rear rotor with integral parking brake. Easier is to simply use a rear pbr caliper. If you have them already that's a bonus, if not the rear 1LE/late f body alu caliper or the corvette caliper work. Miller has conversion rbackets for all 10 and 9 bolts (drum or disc) to use the pbr caliper on a larger 12" corvette rotor. The pbr F body/C4 caliper (the C5 stuff is PBR too) can only be used on a .83 thick rotor, the C5 and most other stuff is about 1" thick on the rear. 13 or 13.5 C5/6 front kit with a 12" rear f body/c4 is a nice combo. The only diff on the front between the rotor sizes are the rotors and the caliper abutments. The adapter brackets are all the same.

 

Okay. so if i´ve got it right then i need 13/13,5 c5 rotor and front caliper and 12" rear caliper/rotor from c4?

 

What did your car come with originally? IF you have those alu rear calipers you can simply use those. For the rest, you need a 9 or 10 bolt adapter bracket for the axle (depending on what axle you have) and a C4 rear rotor set. For the front, your choice of rotor size...just make sure you have the proper abutments for the size selected. Std C5 is 13", J55 C6 stuff is 13.5

PBR = australian brake manufacturer, a brand

these cars came with either drums on the rear or discs. The discs are available in 2 versions, delco morain cast iron calipers that are offset (one leading one trailing) or the ones you see above. Those are 1LE or late f body (89 up) rear calipers and the ones to get. So, depending on what car you buy you may or may not have some of the pieces to the puzzle. Also, the rear axle can be a 9 or a 10 bolt, the brackets for the brakes are not the same. Better get the car 1st and then the brakes.

 

yes it was the plan to have al the money for the car and parts and buy the car first then the car. where can i get pbr?

 

off any C4 corvette, remanufactured from places like Rock Auto or used on ebay..maybe here.
