Wilwood Brake Question

I have the 4 disk brake single piston caliper setup in my car . But my question is if the D154 dual piston calipers will directly bolt on instead of the single piston caliper. My other question is how big of a rotor can you go on a complete OEM brake setup. I did some research and alot of members think getting bigger rotors is the way to go, but hopefully my question gets answered. Thanks

Re: Wilwood Brake Question

Can't really change the rotor size without reallocating the caliper mount. That's why aftermarket one have a new retainer bracket with them it moves the caliper away from the normal spindle mount more along with usually changing the bolt pattern for the new caliper.

Even then the 4 piston kit I sold used 12.2" or so rotors and they barely rubbed the inside of my 15" draglites on mockup.

As for the D154 those look similar to the style of the OEM ones but isn't hard to figure out if they will fit unless they give you exact mounting ear measurements so you can compare.

Re: Wilwood Brake Question

Thanks for the info. I been looking at slotted rotors on summit 10.5 to 11.5 but didnt really know how big i would be able to go as far as rotor size. What caliper company sells reallocating brakets? I need to replace all 4 calipers due to years of wear and tear. Going 1Le or getting a new brembo or wilwood or SSB kit would be too much right now.

Re: Wilwood Brake Question

Well your reallocating brackets depend on the calipers you're wanting. flynbye sells some. You can also pick up various ones on eBay. Just have to research and dig around for them.

In that case, perhaps renewing your OE setup would be the best bet: new calipers if needed, pads, rotors, braided lines, fluid.

Definitely agree with this statement. Unless you're racing the car, the OE setup does well enough when used with good pads. Depending on the type of racing, the OE setup is often still acceptable with the right pads.

Another option for the front would be to go to LS1 FBody brakes which are more reasonable than Baer, Wilwood, etc.

As for your original question: Yes the Wilwood D154 are a direct replacement for the factory D154 caliper. Mounting points are the same and overall size is the same. Rotor size can't be changed without relocating the calipers and sourcing larger rotors so don't expect to change unless you buy a full kit from someone.

Also don't over look getting new bearings and inner seals for the front.

Last time had to argue with the guy at the parts store over why I would need new bearings and an inner seal when just replacing rotors.

Just stick with replacing your stock parts. Buy quality OEM replacement stuff.
